what is going on at Sears?
I scored a nice brand new Snap On 3/8" ratchet for $70 (would be $104.95 list, plus tax, free shipping at Snap On). So I figure, let me get some new 3/8 sockets, would love SK but too expensive even discount online.
Find a nice set on sale at Sears for $58, I'd take those, with free shipping. Looking for my password, I discover an email that I can get $30 off in "surprise" points, for any order of $90 or more. So I throw a $35 on sale 1/4" socket set into the basket. Oh, and there are $5.33 in points from when I bought the 26" tool box for $19. Check out, the $30 and $5.33 are deducted, but I'm charged $16.95 for shipping. WTH?! Do an online chat, this cute guy, in under 4 min., says he's issuing a $18 credit and check my email for confirmation, and it's there. Now, on top of all of the above, I've earned another $20 off expiring 7/31?! WTF, really. I thought Sears was dead. Now, I want them to live! I have no clue as to how I keep getting these points. |

Sears is on the verge of death and are trying to have deals and such to keep their small market around. Most people can get what they need housewares wise on the cheap end at Walmart or nice stuff at williams Sonoma, craftsman tools are so so for the warranty, but I can go to a used took store and find a broken snap on wrench or ratchet and have it replaced on a truck for free.
Sears is a dying breed, just like JC Penny. Lol that line left me pretty confused but I digress. |

It is very puzzling indeed! I mean it's like, when you get bonus points, you try to spend them. You spend them, and the transaction creates more points? WTH?!
I already have sockets, but mostly 1/2". So I figure if I got these, I'd have everything I need for the most part and don't have to worry about what I actually have now. I figure the ratchet is in your hand, so you feel it and appreciate it if it's good. But the sockets, as long as they don't break or round your bolts, they are good to go. This was on sale for $58.99, and all I really wanted: https://www.craftsman.com/products/c...deep-3-8-in-dr Threw this in for $35 to get the order up to $90: https://www.craftsman.com/products/c...deep-1-4-in-dr So including tax, both are $62 and it generated another $20 off that has to be used by 7/31, very puzzling. Also, the excellent online support was puzzling too. |

I clearly clicked free shipping on both items, and it generated $16.xx in shipping charges. I'm just really surprised that someone would come online so quickly and straighten it out by issuing a $18 credit (or so he said, but he did email me confirmation).

This is so bizarre--so I get another $20 from today's order, expiring 7/31/16 (fast), and then, another $10.94 when the order is delivered. It's as if ordering from Sears is a money making machine! I mean, nobody says you have to buy any minimum amount. So just get something for $20. Just get something for $11. It's all free. Again, I am not understanding this points system at all, and usually I do understand all the loyalty cr**....

Back in my armored Cav days if you went stateside on leave, you had to bring back all the busted 15/16ths sockets and get them exchanged at Sears for new ones. Lifetime Warranty on Craftsman sockets. The 15/16ths were what we used to change track pads on the tanks and PCs. We'd bust them like crazy.

Guys, this is insanity. Ok, so whatever, I know I have 20000 points that need to be used up by 7/31. Again, I'm not understanding how I got them, but fine, I'll get $20 worth of stuff for free.
Whoa, I see these Channellocks on sale for $21.99, a 420 and a 426. I have tons of Channellocks (my buddy jokes I am a distributor), but I don't have that size of the straight jaws. So, I figure I will owe less than $2 for pliers. Sweet! I go to check out, and it tells me I have a $10 "surprise" bonus, i.e. 30,0xx points available to be used. WHAT THE ****! Now it's creeping me out, like points keep growing for no reason? So, I add a prof jewelers 6 pc screwdriver set, check out, and owe $1.49 incl. tax! To make matters more creepy, supposedly when the original sockets get delivered by UPS, I'll have another $10.49 in points to use? This is very bizarre....I have never in my life gotten free Channellocks! |
