BMW rear indicator bulb really??

Guys I have a 2009 LCI BMW 330d Msport only owned a few weeks and it's been great wanted to get a couple of tiny door dents sorted on the rear wing to make the car dent free.

I booked the car in for the dents to repaired and when picking up the car and driving out of the car park I signalled right and got a bulb failure on the rear drivers side indicator thinking nothing of it I drove home and went to remove the bulb and replace but found out it's not possible due to being LEDS I spoke to BMW who said I need a replacement light at £184 this is the only way to fix the problem.

Now this seems crazy and thinking about it more and more I'm thinking is it possible the dent guy caught a cable or something the dents are the same side as the rear light I've spoke to the garage who have offered to have a look but what's your thoughts just coincidence? I have taken the plug out and refitted it but nothing.

I've uploaded a video to show what is happening but there do look dimmer than the other side and not caught in the video but sometimes the 3 bulbs that are out sometimes very lightly flicker.

Im hoping its just a loose wire.

I doubt a loose wire, as they're all on one board so it looks like the diodes are failing. And they aren't replaceable easily, soldered on.

Ok cheers I'm going to get an auto electrician to take a look at the light see if it's a simply fix.

Do you know if the front lights have led bulbs on the front indicators?

Fairly sure they do, I own a Pre-LCI so mine are filament but I think LCI got LED all round.

Wouldn't necessarily need an auto-electrician, just someone with experience of circuit boards and diodes, and possibly the ability de-solder SMD's. Might be fairly simple, might be more complex, I'm not sure how complicated these lights are.

Thinks crossed mine is the same because if a front bulb fairlys the bill would be huge, I've taken the light to a friend who is very cleaver with a soldering iron so will see if he can repair it.

Thanks
Shane
