NADA wants inspection of autonomous vehicles
Now here's an idea, NADA is calling for strict inspection of autonomous vehicles.

Or system self checks, if any sensor or computer isn't functioning correctly the whole system shuts off. Basically the "Engine Check Light" for the autonomous system but it shuts the system off. This is part of the reason I don't see the banning of cars we drive happening anytime soon. The idea of every 10 year old car with every sensor and system working perfectly all the time seems highly unlikely and when one part of the system goes and autonomous shuts down you will be trapped if you can't drive it yourself.

There's companies now working on the business angle of ride-sharing (Uber, Lyft to name a few) so these autonomous vehicles will be part of a fleet and not individually owned. I doubt dealers will be doing the servicing for the majority of these vehicles. |

So since there are no autonomous cars for sale anywhere in the world, and autonomous travel is about 100 years away, this article is important because?

Your grand kids will be dead, who cares?

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
