As Miro pointed out, new management with Adam and Craig, but the mechanics are still there.. and so are the BMR boys!

Bill, needs no introduction - As everyone that has been to Advan will know him, and is still there. Bill is the longest serving Advan mechanic, arguably the most knowledgeable for us as he's seen it all - good, bad and ugly.

Cameron, has been at Advan for some 6-8 months now and is an all round top bloke. Well experienced with BMW's also with over 10 years experience, mainly in servicing and now in modification funness!

Thanks _ink!

The troops here are exactly the same It's just myself now that you will see behind the desk

Jack however retired a month and a half ago so we are down a mechanic, but not to worry! I have a new BMW tech that actually starts within the fortnight!

Everyone is welcome to come around at any time! I just now need to grow a moustache to fill the void that Peter left..

Whilst we're on the topic, what do people expect from a good workshop?

Although I must say, my visits to Advan have been pretty good.

I drive over an hour from Wollongong and can't exactly leave the car and pick it up later in the day.

So every time I've been up they have been very accommodating, letting me use a table and work from my laptop, getting me coffee, a slurpee on a stinking hot day and they got me lunch last time I was there!

Top blokes. That's Advan and BMR

for me its a shop that takes pride in its work. spending the extra 5 minutes to double check everything is a must.

nothing annoys me more then getting the car back with the cowl not installed properly or filthy hand marks all over the car.

A shop that gives good advice is also a plus. pete was great in this regard fingers crossed adam can follow in his footsteps

The coffee, slurpee and lunch definitely sounds like the BMR boys hospitality and service.

I was big fan of Active and a loyal customer, but shoddy workmanship and poor attention to detail, means I wont be going back !!!

I think its pretty simple really, just good ol fashion good service, say what you mean and do what you say (regardless of what type of business you run)

Get jobs done on time, and have the courtesy to inform the customer if its going to be late (there's nothing worse then not being told your car will be ready and getting there and it's not)

Cleanliness is important to some customers also (return the car in the same condition it was dropped off in)

And finally attitude. This is a big one, obviously if the customer doesn't like how a business owner treats their clients he wont be back. Friendly honest service that's done on time to the standard the customer wants is what keeps guys coming back

Last time went there was doing charge pipe and oil catch can installation, pretty good as usual. Although it`s a pity that we can`t stand next to the car and watch it in the operation, I know it`s for safety concern so cannot complain on this.

A noob question, what is the relationship between BMR and ADVAN? It`s about two years since I visited there for the first time, but still unsure about this

Hey Eric, as you know, it is for safety, plus it's also to allow the mechanics fresh air as they work through the job. I understand entirely that you want to be apart of the install and watch as the job unfolds, but unless the car is being worked on at the front hoist to the shop, we all need to hang around the TV and desks.

As for the relationship with BMR and Advan, we work in complete unison. BMR work alongside us. It is an awesome deal as we offer and supply all of the mechanical work as BMR supply and cater for all of the parts

We have some really, really cool things happening in the near future that we, as a collective, are super excited about. Not only will it benefit both Advan and BMR, but it will make the customers experience here so, so much better!

Let the fun begin!
