325d/330d Buying advice thread
Right guys, I know this topic gets covered numerous times but basically, I'm after an LCI 330d / 325d (Auto)
I'm aware all LCI 330d's have the later N57 engine and also the 325's had those fitted after 09/10 or something if that's correct!? Any big problems to look out for? Is there any way to check if the 325's have the later engine by the Reg? Or is the VIN needed? Test drove a 2011 325d auto a few days ago and it was hesitating to pull away at low speeds/revs almost like it had a blocked injector, car only had 51,000 on the clock!? No fault codes where on the iDrive either. Wayne. |

If the engine looks like the one below; it's an N57.
No major issues to report. The thermostats don't tend to die like they do on the M57. I'd read the codes if you can to check there are no hidden issues. They can suffer from carbon build up much like any direct injection. The N47 suffered timing chain issues and the N57 shares some of the chain components however there are barely any reports of failures online. |

I did have my Carly with me so I could of, but I literally only went to view that car to drive it because I've never drove a 3.0litre auto and that was very close to home at a small dealer so I had nothing to loose. Had a great spec but was too overpriced and the paint condition was awful, didn't look very well looked after, brakes where pretty shot, Tyre's were all budgets and I checked its recent MOT's and it had a fail and advisories for brakes and Tyres 2 years running, not good signs. Will more than likely use my code reader when I go and view one I'm genuinely interested in, but thanks for the heads up! |

If you download the mycarcheck app you can input the vehicles reg plate and the app will tell you the vehicles horse power. 197bhp is the older m57 engine and 204bhp is the newer n57.
