T.F.P. Total Finish Protection

Hey guys...

So I was at the NY Auto Show and was impressed by the salesman demonstrating TFP sealant. I picked up three containers of the stuff for $20. I dont have all the details since I am at work, but has anyone used this stuff on their e9x?

Anyone else buy it from the guy at the show?

he told me it's what lots of manufacturers use, including BMW...

Oh, and he also demonstrated a tip on filling in scratches...

Basically, clean out the scratch, apply touch up paint and cover the scratch with masking tape for 10-15 minutes. This way the paint is smooth. Remove tape and apply the TFP. Anyone try the masking tape method? I will try these this weekend and hopefully have pictures!

20 total. There's three different chemicals, but I can't find them online and they're at home. Will post what they are later and pics of the bottles. Will be applying the stuff this weekend.

To the other post - touch up paint is at the dealer.

the salesguy told me i should have received a bottle of it from the dealer when I bought the car. that was an odd thing for him to say. he said it wouldve been in a black bottle though. at that point I had already bought it, so he wasn't trying to sell it to me.

This is the only thing I could find on autopia.org about TFP:
http://autopia.org/forum/detailing-p...-products.html

Nothing bad to say about it.

Here is what the bottles say:

TFP Polymer Sealant:
Save bottle for rebate towards purchase. Used and approved since 1978 by car dealers.
Can be used on chrome, aluminum, plastics, glass fiberglass, and any painted surface.
Before using, shake well. Sections at a time are not necessary, unless heavy oxidation is present or surface is too hot to touch.
Wash and dry surface. Apply TFP to a soft, clean cloth and saturate one side of cloth.
Rub in circular motion, overlapping each and every time, covering entire surface to be protected. TFP is not an abrasive.
Allow to dry 10-15 minutes before removing haze (pre-cleaner). Can be used on old and new surfaces.
Recommended for clearcoat for preventive maintenance and all painted surfaces for new and old cars.
Can be applied by hand or machine.
Be sure to remove damage causing substances as soon as possible.
TFP applied 2-3 times a year will retard or eliminate UV rays from the sun, bug stains, tree sap, road film, harsh detergents and abrasives.

Money Back Guarantee.

TPF has been around for MANY years. I first bought it about 15 years ago from the LA Auto Show.

It was a good product back in the day. I'm sure there's tons of newer stuff that's better.
