TDO4L turbo info
Check out the newest line of tdo4 turbos.
I noticed these new turbos are making more power on less boost even at lower rpm. I had slower spoolling stealths on datalogs but increased power at x rpm then my rb classics. Same results as hexon 600vs rbs classics and hexon 700 vs stealths/pures needing more boost to make the same power. I would like to make buyers aware that these larger frames are making more power at all rpms then stock turbos. For example vtt has put some data up comparing buraqs record 503 hp on stock turbos to vtt gcs 640hp range runs on a dynojet dyno. At every rpm the larger frames make more power. They started around 1800rpm-2000rpm Details are on the three forums. The turbos im refering to are vtt gc range, mmp and rb evos. |

What is the reliability and wastegate rattle like on these 'new' TD04 compared to stock TD03 turbos? I thought RB, VTT etc have been using TD04 for years and none of them can produce reliable turbos?

I pretty much said wastegates shouldnt be an issue and no n54 turbos are workung as hard as pre plumbing upgrades.
And theres limited tdo4 sets out there so no one knows yet. One set of gcs has been sent back but im not sure why |

Wastegate will eventually fail based on their design. Ask any of them for a lifetime waste gate rattle free warranty
![]() At the end of the day you are still octane limited so unless you are going to run e85 a single turbo will be more reliable and have more headroom vs stock frames upgraded. Oh and no waste gate rattle ever. The new cast upgrades are interesting.

All these will make 500hp on pump fuel.
We need an upgraded hpfp or twin hpfp. Even smaller rb next gens made over 500hp on pump fuel. I havnt heard of any rattling issues in a long time on any upgraded setup. I do t think its going to be an issue on these larger turbos. |

Upgraded waste gates are better but will eventually rattle. RB has publicly stated this. It all depends on how much rattle you can handle.

Anyway using the best materials and design does not make them not wear, over time, if they are constantly subjected to a harsh environment. Any brand new turbos CAN and WILL rattle,
-RB N54 Turbos rattle.. Many customers have installed brand new turbos (warranty by BMW) and they rattle out of the box. There may be different causes, but at the end of the day there is no escaping the rattle, which is magnified when you have catless downpipes installed. Mike
