Dpf error

Hi guys, my bmw 320d e90 57 plate 68k miles has had an orange DPF light coming on for over a year in assuming there is no going back from this and want to have it removed. I've had no codes read and I have not gone into the hidden menu to check temp of coolant.

My question is who do you guys trust to do the DPF removal and remap I'm in Mansfield. Notts.

I had a quote from shark performance £799, GEE diesels at Hucknall £799 plus VAT and castle street tuning at Nottingham £399. I cheapest isn't best but I also know the dearest has no guarantee of doing a better job.

Any guys in my area actually used these services or any other for that matter ? Costs ? Problems ?

Also do you guys recommend EGR delete AS WELL how much extra does this cost ?

I am experiencing a slight loss of power at the moment and first start in the morning, the Rev counter is up and down at tick over until I've been driving a few minutes.

Any and help will be greatly appreciated guys.

Thanks

It does help mate thanks. Just got another quote from mark light foot at Ilkeston for £400 plus vat. Think I'm gonna go with him. Any views on the EGR ?

Why not just get it cleaned? Driving with it removed being illegal and all...

I'd look into the reasons why it's blocked at such an early age. Removing it won't solve the original issue and they don't tend to just block; especially at such an early age.

I think the reason is five years of very short journeys under 2 miles. It's a common problem.

Using Rheingold to force a regen and clear your error codes would be a cheaper option for the cost of a K+D-Can cable.

I haven't touched the EGR, in time it will get cleaned like I did on my old e60

Did you check your thermostats are working? My dpf came up the other week. Thermostats needed to be replaced did a regen and no issues since

A few things, is it the N47 or M47 engine you have? If it's the N47 then the single thermostat is pretty reliable, the EGR doesn't coke up really either.

Also, it's a 9 year old car so not exactly a 'young' car. As the Op said, 2 mile trips will shorten the life somewhat. I do think it's worth trying the Rheingold route and forcing a regen though
