Running catless in PA?

Has anyone run into any trouble with emissions in PA when running catless? I live in Chester County, and am looking into going catless...as long as I get rid of the CEL, should I be okay? I'm thinking of getting a catless midpipe for my '01 Miata...I know, this is a BMW forum, but I figure emissions is the same for every car.

I just got mine tested for the third time by Firestone in Exton PA. Never had a problem without the cats. Just set jb4 to 0 and have the cel cleared.

My son run straight pipes on his Mustang GT, We had to install a MIL eliminator since he still has the 4 O2 sensors and he runs a tune but O2 code could not be programmed out. When they do the emission test, they just look for codes being thrown. However the visual inspection is the harder part to pass and some place do look. Most time they do not even both to look, however, since his car is so loud they know something is up. I know he pays $100 for inspection and they do not ask questions. They know they could easily say the car was fine when they looked at the car. For a 335I the aeropan covers the cats unless someone removes the cover they will not see the missing CATs
