Battery type + ppk on a random response further down the first page :-)

Hi guys, I have googled and think I have an agm type battery. It is the oem BMW one. I ask as I'm having the ppk flashed and want to connect my charger which has various settings. Please confirm if the type is gel, agm, wet, calcium

Thanks,
Appreciate it!

And thanks for confirming battery type eb. There's a lot of wires connected to the battery. Never seen that before. Then again, never had a convertible before either.

There is only 2 connected to the battery, the positive has the big module that other things plug into.

Once you remove it for the first time it's not so bad.

When changing a new battery, is it needed to have the car charged from the hood while disconnecting the old battery?

Nar man, it doesn't make sense, if you take the battery out, what are you charging

Just disconnect the negative

Push it out of the way

Fight with the positive module for about 30mins

Remove the battery, and put the new one in.

I would change the new battery the night before putting it in.

I was also wondering why the car has to be charged while replacing the battery.

But my friend told me that people say keeping the car electrical, such as the ECU, working while removing the old battery.
He is going to replace his battery and he asked me such question which I am not too sure too.

Nar you dont need to do that, and I doubt a battery charger would me strong enough to do that.

Just charge your new one to max then swap, doesn't matter how long the car has no battery for.

Ive taken mine out plenty of times, took my battery out to charge it over 3 days because i have no powerpoint in my parking garage at home.

The new battery has to be charged prior putting in the car?
I thought the new battery is ready to go and just plug and play.
I used to just putting the new battery directly to all my previous cars.

needed the battery type to charge the bat overnight for joe @ top gear solutions to flash the ppk. I had my software updated at the dealer around 3 month ago. was no problem for the ppk and DME wasn't rolled back.

PPK flashed successfully without a hitch. joe was great. couldn't be happier. exhaust pops and crackles now. love it!! also am getting a much stronger turbo spool sound now which is quite fun. well worth the little $$ he charges.

going to get the power fold mirror with fob and digital speedo coded by him next =D

You don't have to but you don't know how charged it is when you get it.

I just think if you have it, why not charge to max
