Hi guys,
Currently, I'm driving a regular and quite stylistically boring e92 335d without the aero mtech package. I've started to queue some first mods I intend to do. The first one, would be to have a custom exhaust built @ GTP (here's a sample of what they do), as the current one has been wrecked by previous owner's futile attempts to tune the car. Now, this is somehow problematic, as it would prove to be very difficult to change a given bumper style, since one has to accomodate for the different exhaust configuration. Therefore, I have to pick one concept and here's where you come in. Could you sway me to pick one option over the other? The options are as follows: 1) Mtech rear bumper + a carbon diffuser form Vorsteiner or Duke Dynamics or alike with a dual 90 mm exhaust Something like this: 2) Prior Design M3 replica rear bumper + quad 85 mm exhaust This: In both cases, the exhaust tips will be similar to those: Any insights on what should I pick? it's 2x the cost for two lil vents.
I vote mtech, if money isn't an issue then ventech. both will need the diffuser added. Mtech is 380 shipped, ventech is 800 shipped. Those are the lowest costs I could find. so with paint + install ventech is over 1k for a bumper cover...

They do. $400 cool? $200 per side for a vent cool? It's up to you. I think it also stands out more on brightly colored cars. Hard to notice on mine or a black car I imagine.

There is a group buy on the forums right now: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1291470
Bought a cf diffuser of eBay that looks like the DD one. Half the price and DD has a horrible rep on the forums I would stay away. Should all be installed in a month or so once it gets delivered and I am back from vegas(work).

Well, the ventech is a cool one... however, being in the EU, importing bumpers and diffusers from the US will be highly inefficient costwise. The shipment and import duties will easily double the cost... (had the same when I started to research how to get my hands on APEX wheels).
As for the bumper, I can get a mtech bumper taken off a crashed e92 in mint condition dirt cheap. ($100-200) I have been thinking about buying a diffuser form CA Technologies based in the UK. They have a carbon version of the performance diffuser there (supposedly made in Germany and not in China). Looks like this: |
