SSTT installed + Ottawa sighting!
I installed my SSTT this morning. It was a pretty simple install as far as DIY's go. Really all that's required are the instructions that come in the box. Because I hadn't driven all night, I just popped the hood and waited a minute or so before starting. I probably didn't even really need to wait a minute since it took me at least 7 or 8 minutes to get the TMAP connector unlocked. But once that was done, it's literally plug and play!
After installation I decided to go for a nice little drive to try to break the SSTT in with a few WOT runs, so I took the 417 to the Walkley exit and went for a drive down Ramsayville/Russell Road. At the top of the hill on Ramsayville I spotted DJ 83. I flashed my high beams and gave a wave -- there aren't very many of us in Ottawa on e90post! As for the SSTT I definitely noticed a difference. Not huge, but it's there. I'm sure I'll notice it more in the next few days of driving. I'll be sure to post my thoughts then.

The extra boost should be there on WOT at higher rpms. If you measured your 0-60 or 1/4 there should already be a big improvement. But wait a few days (200 kms or so) and the 'helping hand' will be felt all around the power band. I found that higher octane fuel helped too.
Keep us posted. |

Hey, I figured it was someone from the forums! I looked in the rear view, and noticed the Blacklines. Actually, you're the first E90 I've seen with them. There really arn't many of us in this city.
That's my neck of the woods. I take that route pretty much everyday on my way to work. You have to love that 90 degree bend where Walkley turns into Ramsayville. Afterwords, keep heading down and just past Russell Road, you'll get to a nice long bend that goes under the 417. I usually hit that at 130km/h with my summer tires on. But be carefull, right after that is the former Ramsayville Public School, which is now turned into a drug rehab center, so there's crazy people running around mixed with a lot of cops. My daily commute is great, I hit country roads, the highway and then some city roads too. -D.J. |

But now because of this 50 over law I'm hesitant to drive like this in Ontario. Does anyone from Ottawa have any good fun route recommendations in Quebec?

I'm hardly ever on the Quebec side, maybe for 10 minutes maximum, I cross over to buy 40's at the Depanneur since they're open until 11:00. (Ask them to put the 40s in a paper bag, for that added ghetto effect LOL.)
I remember going to Mont Tremblant a few years back. A lot of S-turns on the way there, I at that time wished I had a BMW. Be carefull of the Autoroute 5 when you cross into Quebec from King Edward. I've never seen cops there, but I heard there's tons from many people. Also the speed limit is 70km/h and there's lots of bends and overpasses for police to hide. Besides... that highway is completely riddled with potholes, especially the on/off ramps. Another warning about Ramsayville Road: Once you pass Leitrim it turns into a 60 zone until the next street, 8th Line/Louiseize. Cops like to hide around there too. The odd thing about that stretch is a lot of people like to park white sedans at the end of their driveways, to fool people into thinking from a distance that there are cops parked there instead. -D.J. |

Not just that, the demerit points and the fines are doubled, all the way to over $3,000!

You should be able to spot me a little easier now, just look for the SG E90 with Euro Xenons. I also have LUX5.0 and I always roll with them on. The Rims and Splitters going on once the snow is gone should help too.
As for routes on the Quebec side, be very careful within the Gatineau City Limits and in the highways, enforcement as of late has really been stepped up. Personally, I would recommend taking the Champlain Bridge over to the Aylmer side, being cautious on the lower road until you get to the Marina and turn off to the rural roads. The Alexandria Bridge (Interprovincial) now turns into a street called Allumetierres on the Quebec side. Once you pass the two traffic circles it's wide open. No idea on enforcement though. Within Ottawa, stay off the highways and stick to the deep south end or far west (I'm talking Carp far). Enforcement is minimal and these roads are so deserted that you can just assume that any car you see is po-lice, and visibility is pretty damn good too. There is this one disgusting S-Curve just north of Carp that is a blast. Personally, I like Otto's Test Drive Route near the Airport aswell, lots of curves and 90% of the other cars you see are from Otto's being test driven

Congrats!
I've seen a SG on Renaud rd./ Anderson rd. a few times. In fact I saw one yesterday around 18:00... Not sure if that was you. |

I need another few days! I took my car into the shop today to get my bumper repainted. Over the course of about 3 months I had 3 separate scratches on my bumper from various idiots, with the first one happening a few days after I took delivery. I'm sure it will get scratched again, but oh well.
I'll do some crude timings this weekend. I'm thinking one reason I find it hard to compare is because I havn't been driving my car very hard at all during the winter.

Alright, about 170km after installation NOW I feel the difference!
It feels like I've awakened the beast within. I'm getting enjoyment out of just cruising in second gear around 3500rpm and then putting my foot to the floor. Before you know it you're doing 100km/h+ ... it's dangerous. But oh so fun. I say this now, but I think if I had any more power at my disposal I might end up killing myself. Another SSTT believer here!
