e91 325i advice needed!
hello
I'm currently the owner of a E87 118d and looking to make the move to an e91 touring. So far i've only been to see a 58 plate 325i auto at a local BMW dealer. First impressions of the car were overall good, however i haven't jumped to buy the car because i wasn't too sure it was any quicker than my current 118d...And it doesn't have xenons as standard, which is something i promised myself my next car would have. So basically what i want to know is are 325i tuneable to make them worth while because its all i can find in the way of e91 3ltr petrols? I am considering 325,330 and 335D's because they are more common and i know they can be remapped easily, but i only really do 7 miles a day 5 days a week so it will be more of a weekend wagon. Any feedback from owners/exowners would be great. |

someting like this?
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1294594 Personally if you want to tune I would avoid the 325i entirely and either go with a 330d, 335d or a 335i (personal favourite is the last one )

I know the 125i and 130i were pretty much the same and with a remap a 125i has basically 130i power, so was thinking that a 325i and 330i could do much the same? |

Hi
325i can't be remapped to 330i levels. Best option is 3 stage manifold from a 330i plonked on 325i if you own the later engine. However I don't think anyone has found anywhere in the UK to do the coding. The manuals feel much faster (no torque converter in the way), it may be worth trying a manual. |

Ah yes that is true, seems quite the headache for these guys:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1267498 If you're questioning the power now then just wait for a 330i to pop up. I was in a similar position and went for a 330i. |

There are a few 330i's about but just pre LCI or SE spec. I'm being picking as well which doesn't help but have got a decent budget so want to get the most for the money instead of retro fitting ect.... I am quite temped to go down the 3ltr diesel route which will be better when i drive out to Germany doing 2500 mile round trips, but are these diesels going to be upset with 7 mile round trips 5 days a week? |

Why don't you look at e92 or e93 they have Xenos as standard and the e92 is a lighter car so would be a tiny bit quicker.
An e90 or e91 with Xenos would be expensive as they are rare and usually high spec with a higher price tag. Also you can still tune the 325I n53 engine and get a big gain from just a remap. There are a few dyno tuning companies in the UK that are getting 260bhp with just a £350 map. The manifold just gives it another 10bhp odd making the engine identical to a 330i but mstyle are the only company able to get the 3 stage manifold working at a heavy cost of £600. But that is good to know it can have a decent gain from just a remap that's the news I was hoping for.I'm growing imPatient as well because I have viewd a well looked after 325i m sport in blue water metallic for a decent price, only thing it doesn't have is xenons but would leave me enough pocket money to do a few mods right off the back so has got me thinking as always. |

I have an E91 330d and only do around 10 miles to work every day.
At the weekend I do a lot more miles and give it a good stretch of the legs. In 3 years Ive never had a single issue with the DPF. Diesels are fine for short trips, as long as you give them a good run too |

Oh yes the n53 325I gets one of the highest bhp increases from a map on a naturally aspirated engine.
Well if uv found one you like why not get it then just buy some after market projector angel eye headlights and fit an xenon kit onto it? |

Would you recommend any tuners in the UK who can achieve these kind of gains?

BW are in West London. 2 garages in hayes and Hounslow. Jason does a custom dyno tune. Nothing off the shelf. He has great reviews and is generally a top guy. Make note you will always get what you pay for
