I will be doing a non I-Drive to I-Drive setup and would like to know if it matters what production date head unit I purchase makes a difference. I.E. can I buy a unit dated 37/11 for my install?

You can get any CIC Headunit from the E9x family to work with your car. Choose from later model years you can you get some extra features already installed.

I found the answer (I think) to my question regarding the NBT screen. It looks like it is all about tacking an 8 wire LVDS screen and converting it to a 2 wire. Very informative DIY

No issues there. CIC will be coded to your car and will change the sound to HIFI setup in the process.

Not really. But it was a help for me when I did the retrofit to tell what options that were installed from factory. The donor vin is stored in the CIC as well.

I was a day late purchasing the CIC with the 6NR apps package. I still have my hopes on buying one with the Martini app included.
