Anyone here used Simple Green to clean the dashboard?

I am planning to use it after my dealership used white grease and wiped it all over my dashboard (idiotic eh?) to fix a squeak when it wasn't my dashboard making the sound. I heard it's super safe for all surfaces and it cleans very well.

You seem pretty set on trying it so make sure you sillute it enough. Try something like 20:1. Its some strong and harsh stuff. I personally would tell you to miz some woolite and water 6:1.

Woolite? Isn't that for clothes? Yeah, for sure I'm going to dilute Simple Green with a lot of water.

Have you trying removing grease with a dashboard? It's tough to remove. What's makes it tougher is that it's white. I could barely see it without my polarized glasses. With my polarized glasses, it looks like a mess.

I just heard that Simple Green is safe for all surfaces because it contains no ammonia, bleach, citrus oil/extracts, petroleum distillates and it's non-abrasive.

It just happens that I have a bottle of simple green car wash solution at home and I would totally try it to clean my dashboard with it. I heard from others that it works wonders and it's safe.

I'm not sure simple green would be the preferred choice. To me that's like using windex.

I would spring for some Poorboy's Natural Look Dressing... It's versatile, you can use it on the seats and the dash together if you like and it does not leave a shiny "armor all" looking surface...

I wasn't talking about Simple Green all purpose cleaner, although I'm sure that would work too. I was talking about Simple Clean car wash solution.

It seems to do a great job.

No. There was some input a while back about Lexus advising the use of woolite on their leathers, but after nrmerous recommendations from different detailers and enthusiasts, woolite has proven to not have any negative effect on interior surfaces. You can get all pretty and expensive and go for a more boutique'ish style cleaner, but you're reaching for simple green, which I'm not saying is "bad", but definately not my first option.

Give it a try though, let us know how it goes.

I like to use "area" specific products. I find that nothing I have used has worked better, fast, and last's longer then CG Lightining Stain Extractor on frabics. If you put it in a carpet extractor with a de-foamer it works amazing as well.

On my dash board I have used CG leather cleaner with good results. It is just important to follow up with a damp cloth to make sure all of the cleaner is off the surface and to follow up with a protectant like 303 or CG silk shine. Just make sure on interior parts that it is water based therefore it will be dry to touch.

unless your dash is "dirty" i wouldn't use anything but a damp cloth to wipe it down and maybe 303 or the like to protect it. simple green is basically acid and isn't great for use on cars at all. i'd stay away from the stuff.

woolite (all fabrics) diluted 8:1 or 10:1, like joy mentioned, is effective and safe for use on most interior surfaces... carpets, leather, i would imagine vinyl/plastic and similar surfaces would be fine too.

Yeah, I tried a damp cloth. As a matter of fact, I spent almost an hour washing with dashboard with a wet cloth. Totally insane stuff, because it just wouldn't go completely away, and I would see some white coloured liquid within the water, but that's it. I think this grease on my dashboard was designed to resist squeaks, water, and corrision.

If Woolite and water really works, I'll be really happy.

In Canada, we don't have Woolite. However, we have Zero by Woolite. I just want to confirm that this is the exact same product.

Well, I bought a bottle of Woolite for All Colours - the liquid is transparent blue. I used it with a mixture of water with a microfibre towel. I wiped the dash and it took my almost 2 hours. Yep, two hours to get rid of the white grease on my dash. Lots of confusion, because I didn't know if the white stuff was soap or the detergent itself. Stuff is pretty much all gone I believe. I will have to wait until the sun is shining and I will be able to wear my polarized glasses to see how really clean my dash is.

On the other note, I tried cleaning some white grease marks left on my left door that was left there for almost half a year with Woolite and water. It didn't completely come off. I guess when you see some stains on your plastic, it's a good idea to remove it ASAP.
