Cool AA SLD - throttle blipping

Hi,

I'm just in the process of installing and testing the AA Speed Limit Defeat. Suddenly the throttle started blipping. Sounds familiar . I use a pretty new ProgMan, flashed in Feb. 2008.

How did I test:

I installed the AA Active Processor 2 days ago. Works perfect, no problems.

Installed the AA SLD today. Reconnected the battery, startet the engine and let it idle ( ideally until it gets warm ). During this idling the throttle started blipping for a couple of times, a few hundred rpms. Should be easy for AA to reproduce and fix the bug.

Ok, I'm going to remove the AA SLD from my car now

Ciao,
Eugen

Just removed the AA SLD, tested again. Throttle blipping is gone. Thats the advantage from installing tuning components step by step with an appropriate testing phase between the steps. Likely you can assign a problem directly to the last change you applied.

+1. this condition has nothing to do with piggybacks. even completely stock cars have the same condition.

i gave up trying to troubleshoot this "hiccup" (as i call it), because it is so random. and doesnt set a fault code. also it cant be reproduced on demand.
and it comes and goes to quick to try and pinpoint the cause.

My thoughts exactly. It is so random it's damn near impossible to trouble shoot.

Although judging by what Eugene wrote and if his testing was accurate it sounds like SLD aggravates the situation.

agreed. seems as though running any kind of sld is causing porblems.
when i started noticing the hiccups at first i took the gt1 from my bay and had it with me for 3 wks. never a problem. one week after i didnt bring it with me hiccup occured.

as long as i dont see any fault codes coming up(i check every saturday).
i wouldnt worry about it. if any new progman versions come out with a dme software update ill just do it and keep reporting back.

if only shiv would let me beta test, i think i could be very valueable.

eugen/hotrod, what progman version and "i" level is your vehicle?
maybee we can troubleshoot this together?

Eventually there are 2 problems then. I never had a blipping throttle, it came with the installation of the AA SLD and went away with the removal of the AA SLD.

Eugen how are you liking the AA Processor? I have it on my 135i and wanted to get your thoughts as you have tried many of the other tuning options out there. Thanks in advance.

Well, it's a little early for a final statement. I like the way the AA Processor delivers power and I think this is the right mix of power and reliability. I will make some ( few ) more healthy power by adding a Spearco FMIC, catted or catless RISS DP's and SS mufflers, instead of just raising the boost. I would say you got a good piggyback.

Your impressions ?

I agree. I have only had it for a week but have not tried any other tunes so I have no way to compare. I also did the AA front mount intercooler and am looking into getting an intake and downpipes soon. I went with Active because of their record of reliability and the fact that Active is right down the street from me. Thanks for the info and keep us posted.

Just a heads up throttle blipping has been fixed in the "other product" that supports speed limit defeat.

I have been waiting for this for a year now. Where can I get it? And please, don't tell me to wait for another minute... I just changed for the summer tires and Autobahn is waiting for me.
