E92 electrical shutdown

Car is 2007 E92 325i.

Went for drive the other night, got back locked the car and then went to unlock it and it didn’t unlock at al. It was dead. Tried another battery in the fob and nada.
Opened with the blade and no alarm came on, nothing.
Left it overnight and the following day it opened with the remote and old battery just fine.

What could cause this? Like car went into power preservation mode or something? Battery reads 14v and I couldn’t see any errors with Creator.

Could it be IBS? Alternator? Battery going faulty? Fuse box b+ cable?

Having realised the battery is 7 years old I replaced it this weekend and so far no problems to report.
