Underestimate the height of the curb!! Ah!

So i hit the curb while parking, underestimating the height of curb - I'm too used to driving my old SUV.

Anyways -- here are some pics of the underside of the front bumper.

The MINOR damages included scratches that disappeared when I wiped it down... the WORSE / MAJOR damages had small pieces of plastic peel off.

Here are the pics. In your experience... is this the end of the bumper? Need it replaced?

Is it even visible or is it on the bottom? If you can't see it then just leave it because it will inevitably happen again.

If it's leased and you can only see it when you look for it, I'd leave it until you turn it in. I don't even know how strict leases are and if they'd make you fix something like that. I doubt they expect you to turn in an absolutely perfect car. I'd just leave it and see if they say anything when you turn it in.

Don't put a new bumper cover on for that. Don't tell them when you turn it in.

What a coincedence for timing. The lease assessor for Audi just came last week. And I am turning my car in this week.

The front spoiler was tweaked forward leaving a sizable scrape and an ugly looking plastic hang-down under the front bumper. So this imperfection is clearly visble if you crouch down. My bro did this going in reverse, and the front lip got caught on the curb. (I wll never let him drive again)

I almost soiled myself when the assessor was walking around the car. HE MISSED IT COMPLETELY!

Granted yours might be a little more noticable?? - I would wait, you never know! You can always compare the assessors quote to someone elses as a worse case scenario. That is of course IF he sees it...

I'll "quixxx" it.. or is that only for minor scratches (not gouging up the plastic).

Advice on self repairs?

Thanks

your dealer shouldn't mind it on lease turn in, it's a pretty common phenomenon

It happened to my car and it was less than one month old. I went to the dealer and I asked them how I should fix it. The guy said, "don't bother, it's going to happen again.".

I wouldn't worry about it. This happens ALL the time on cars with lowered suspensions.

was reading this post yesterday and was thinking how my bumper is still scratch free after almost a yr...and today i went to this place for lunch parking at the same spot i used to park and all of a sudden i heard sth moving ard my front bumper and there...somebody decided to put a log in front of the spot so that ppl wun fall off that 10 cm cliff in front of it

guess the log was tilted a lil when the bumper touched it (it wasn't anchored on the ground, just lying loose u can easily move it by kicking it)...i tried to look underneath my bumper and found only one of the scratches from your pic...hopefully it's just dirt coz i didn't hear any scratching sound... i'll spent more time lookin at it tonite...

i've occasionally been getting in and out of my car like an idiot when i park but after a yr it still happend

They won't notice it when you return it if you don't.

I always see people parked with their nose hanging over the parking curb. Sometimes almost to the wheels, often with less then an inch of clearance.

If they try to charge you for it after turning it in just go up to the lot and show them 9 of their 10 used cars have the same thing. Normal wear for a 3 year old vehicle.
