Wondering if this is possible on non-M E9X cars. My M3 shows a green low beam indicator on the instrument cluster when the low beams are on, but none of my past or present 328/335 did this. I would imagine the cluster already has such an indicator built in, I don't see why BMW would go to such lengths to have two different designs for M vs. non-M indicator display boards.

Has anyone delved into this before?

I unfortunately can't answer your question, but the light knob itself on the E90 does have a little green LED which turns on when the lights are on.

Yeah I'm aware of that little LED. I'd just prefer the actual low beam indicator on the cluster. It's just better. It irks me to no end that the M3 cluster has this but the non-Ms do not. It makes no damn sense from a logistical point of view when the whole cluster's backing is the same amongst the two cars.

Agreed - you have to take your eyes of the road to see the little puny green dot on the switch. I'd rather have it in the dash, like on the M3.

Maybe it will require custom coding?

Soooooooo, it's dusk or nighttime, & you need a light on the dash to tell you if your lights are ON

If it's daylight & you keep HL in Auto, then no worries as they will never be ON in the day (unless you are running wipers)...

At any rate, where is this Low Beam indicator on M3 cluster?

I have an M3 cluster, there is no low beam indicator - there is a green indicator to the upper left by speedo that is for Front Fogs, a blue indicator in center for Hi beams, and an amber indicator to the upper right by tach that is for Rear Fogs

It's just a matter of personal preference.

Turns out I was mistaken, the two cluster backplates are indeed quite different. There is simply no indicator for low beams on the non-M... so that answers my questions lol.
