Catch can install; what size threads should I use?

I've bought a catch can to fit to my N57 330d. The connectors on the catch can are 15mm O/Dand I've bought a new PCV pipe and cut the ends off.

The I/D of the fittings I want to attach the fittings into is 16mm. I bought some 16mm barbs but the thread doesn't bite so I probably need 17 or 18mm.

Most threaded barbs/hosetails seem to be in inches. The nearest common size seems to be 3/8" but this only correlates to 16.66mm so still likely too small.

How tapered are BSPT threads and could I go up to say a 1/2" BSPT thread which would give enough initial taper to fit the 16mm diameter fitting?

I'm so confused!

Cheers Phil. I've gone with a 1/2" BSPT. Fingers crossed I can make those work.
