Verizon Contract Ending, what next?
Contract with Verizon is ending within 2 days! The question is: Who do I go with next?
I live in a canyon, so I need great reception. Verizon gave me 1-2 bars...but my friends with T-Mobil get full bars sometimes (I thought t-mobile uses cingulars old towers in Cali). I want a PDA, must have wi-fi access or cheap internet plan. I must have a phone with AIM on it. Any suggestions?

Only problem is.. It doesn't have WI-Fi, so I can't steal internet from someone. & Internet plans on verizon are 45$ a month.

I have cinglur/AT&T and hate it. I'd say stick to Verizon, but since you need bars where you live... then I'd go with who ever gives you the most bars. But verizon offers the Black Berry 8820 and 8830. . . I'd get one of those.

Test out Sprint there and see if you get good reception. They have the best plans for the price IMO & I've never had a problem w/the 2 lines I have w/them (in addition to TMO..which is relatively pricey and sucks w/only Edge speeds).
Sprint plans (all include unlimited text, unlimited data, 7pm nights): 500 anytime = $30/mth 1250 anytime = $50/mth Treos and HTCs make for nice PDAs. Blackberry will add another $30/mth, but I never found it necessary unless you absol. need push email. |

Bars don't always equate to reception.
I've always had Verizon. In college my friends would have full bars and couldn't make a call, I'd have 1 or 2 bars and they'd borrow my phone which worked. |

I have a Verizon phone for my wife, and I don't like the way they disable features inherrent to my phone, and then try to sell them back to me. That pisses me off. Try AT&T, with the phone of your choice, and see how it does in your area. I think there is a new BB with WiFi. I know I'm about $100/mo for 1300 minutes and unlimited data on my BB.

Go with T-Mo, they have a new home phone service coming out that will use your broadband connection to hook into your phone, so cheap (free) calling and better reception. You need to get a UMA phone though. TMO has the Wing which is a WinMo UMA phone I believe.
http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/...f-9c7b8ec1b1e0 T-Mobile uses it's own towers now in Cali. They used to have a roaming agreement with At&t, but they pwn Cali now... |

iPhone is a lot of hype but not a lot of substance if your priorities are re: getting work done -- it's better suited as a 'personal' phone than a PDA. Sure it's cool, but I found it to be slower than using a PDA w/a physical qwerty board. |

while at&t sucks ass, i switched from verizon just for the iPhone and don't regret it at all. verizon's phone selection is from the late ice age, they just need to wake up. i even told them my reason for canceling was a poor menu of phones - call me when you get the iPhone. their answer was, we do have something BETTER than the iPhone - it's called the Voyager. at that point, i hung up. that cheaply made plastic brick is nowhere near the iPhone. anyway, i would stick with verizon until june (you're just going to be month-to-month for a couple of months) at which point i would get the upcoming 3G iPhone (and consequently switch to at&t).

People that said move to AT&T..
So why not move to cingular? I thought they provide a better network.

no seriously, where were you last year when they ran the crazy "around the world" ad campaign 24/7 on all available media?
