I have never seen a clear plastic screen protecting the Drive screen like that before!!! Where did you get it?

It's factory, I have it also. I believe pre-lci came with it (I have a 2009 e92).

Correct. The CCC screens have an external cover. The CIC do not.

I didn't know this and was losing my mind trying to figure out how to swap the cover onto a CIC screen when doing the upgrade on my old man's 2007 E93. After much confusion and frustration I looked at my 2012's CIC screen and low and behold: no cover!

That's the first I've ever heard of that. Are you 100% sure? No E9X CIC screen came with an external plastic shield :/

My '09 335d has a cover on the iDrive screen. It's CIC. I think BMW went through the used parts bin with some of these cars, lol.
