Look what BMW I found this weekend

So I found this on Craigslist at random on Friday here in South Florida.

I gave the guy a call and went to see it same night. He was asking $700 because the car has just been sitting and would not start. No battery in it, flat tires, a little mold on the passenger side carpet due to rust under the car. Dash is cracked, and a few leather rips here and there. I offered him $600 and arranged a toe for the remanding $100.

Got it to my mechanic and hooked up the batter and charged it, car started right up. Looks like it was an ignition issue that will be resolved. Engine has 102k original miles and clean title no accidents. Turns out when I started it, I noticed the Dinan exhaust system and the intake. Might also have the chip it appears.

Not sure how much it will cost me to restore this thing with the underbody rust, 2 window regulators, manual swap (preferably), New wheels and tires, probably some suspension parts, new carpet.

So i guess I own a 1989 635CSI now

Anythings I should look for please let me know. Any advise or parts will help of course.

Jealous.

Wow. What a find. Such a steal for $700. Repairs will exceed that but the car is a classic. Interesting to find out how many 635 csi's are still left. I would bet a small amount.

Sorry to say, but those cars turn into a money pit REAL FAST!
And im specifically talking about E24's. Im assuming you are one of the lucky ones who's very mechanically inclined and has the patience to want a project like this. One major player you will need in your corner is a place that specializes in old discontinued BMW parts. I tried to do the junk yard pulls when I was doing my project but found I ended up replacing the same part again after a while which was frustrating. Therefore I decided to start replacing parts on my project car with new. The best one ive found was this place which will save you time trying to obtain parts as they were the only place I found that had it all and I mean they have EVERYTHING for old discontinued BMW's! http://www.bmwmobiletradition-online.com/

I actually am debating a few things,

1) Get the car running and sell it as is to someone who has the time, patience, and money.

2) Get the car running and drive it as a beater with ghetto repairs like wood over the hole in the floor and drive till the wheels fall off.

3) Strike a deal with my mechanic where he can have the car, do the repairs, and then flip the car while giving me a cut proportionate to my investment and his.

4) Sell the car as a parts car or part the car out.

If anyone is interested in the car don't hesitate to let me know I am considering my options here at the moment and may end up with another bargain project car so choices have to be made.
