PA annual inspection

I got my inspection due this month and was wondering if the dealer does the inspection for the first 3 years on a leased car. If not, where do you guys go to get your inspections done and how much do you pay?

PA state inspection is for all cars. I believe it is $98. My car is in now at BMW of the Main Line getting it done along with some other stuff.

So I guess our 3 year warranty that covers everything but our tires, doesn't include PA state inspections for 3 years?

jon, which dealer do you use again? Thompson told me they'll do inspection on all my cars, not just my BMW free of charge. Well, that's what my CA Joe told me.

Be careful with wording.... When I was buying and reading all their literatue, BMW states that they cover all "inspections". The issue is that the inspections they are referring to are the mile stone inspections, such when you are due to get your oil changed at 15K. (They also replace wiper blades and top off your fluids among other things). What they fail to clarify is that they do not refer to state inspections or emission testing.

I was able to get the first one covered, since the car should not need anything after one year, but that was a tough one to get.....

Perhaps your dealer is different.

good luck!

I won't pay $100 for a dealership to perform a standard PA state inspection any more. If Thompson BMW includes them for free, then that is a nice gesture from them.

$100 is a rip off. CJs and most gas stations do emissions + inspections for $40.

My dealer seems to throw in the state inspection as part of the yearly servicing. I still have to pay for smog test and the stickers but the the $39 inspection has been free that last two times

Because PA has not updated its law since the bad old days of the 70's when cars would rust apart in a years time. Also, I think the average intelligence of PA car owner is well below the nation since they have no clue they are metal to medal on the brakes.

+1

Plus why would our state legislature pass a common sense law like this, when they can continue to reap the cash from annual inspection fees?

Are NJ inspections still performed in state owned facilities? In PA, it is all done privately and the state charges a fee for the sticker.

private you pay a fee....state facilities it is free you can do either or. The state facilities have been privatizied and the system actually works very well....a huge improvement.

Thompson has done my annual state inspections free for the last 5 years - both Lexus and BMW.
