How to get bluetooth working?

My son recently bought a 2011 328i M-sport and wants to get BT working. The car has voice control and professional navigation options. He has looked up information on how to get BT working, which indicates that he needs a ULF module, the BT antenna, and the hands-free mic in the light console. We were able to verify that he has the ULF module installed, along with the mic, but does not have the BT antenna (that we can determine). On the ULF module, there is one connector that has no wire for it, and that is what we are trying to determine what this is, along with whether any pinout changes are needed to get the BT option working. I have attached a copy of the ULF, and it is the tan connector that is open right now.

If you are talking OEM streaming music

If you are talking OEM streaming music
what you have to do depends on what year the car is.
There wasn't any bluetooth music till 2010 and it uses
a combox to accomplish this.
Look for the combox upgrade.
You need to find out which module is already in the space
designated for telephone and bluetooth if you already have
a combox you may not need a lot of stuff to get it going.

Then you may just need some cables

Then you may just need some cables a microphone and
programming.
I would talk to bimmertech about this and/or go to the coding
and idrive subforum in addition to here and look at the combox
upgrade threads.
The main features you are looking for are already in the combox they just need to be enabled and have the supporting
hardware attached.

Thanks for the answers - but I will take your advice and ask Bimmertech. I must not have been clear enough in my original post - the car already has the mic and the box, I wanted to know what wire connected to the tan connector on the box, and whether BMW would have supplied a harness to the car that would not have had provisions to connect the BT antenna.

Looks like you have the base audio

Looks like you have the base audio
You might want to think about one of the audio upgrades
for that found here.
When you call Bimmertech be sure and say you have
the combox already.

Are you sure you have a combox and not looking at the mulf? That picture and part number you posted don't look like it. I could be wrong. But here's a picture of a combox

so topicstarter car have mulf2high, not combox
so you need visseo tune2air for bluetooth music streaming and microphone with bluetooth antenna and coding for handfree voice calling

part no 84109229740 is not a combox

part no 84109229740 is not a combox
as the previous poster said I took the op's
comment at face value.
Look it up.
And by bluetooth does he mean bluetooth phone
or bluetooth music or both?

OK, so from prior searching, it appears that we can possibly add BT to MULF2Hi, but since we don't have a cable to go from the MULF unit to the BT antenna location, does anyone know the correct BMW part number for that cable? What I was able to see in RealOEM was possibly 61126960967, 61126960968 or 61126960969, but I'm not sure.

mulf2high support only handsfree bluetooth profile
actually, if you already have mic connected you can code bluetooth option and it will work without antenna, using only internal part of this circuit in module
after that you can order updated bmw antenna with cable for stable bluetooth reception

Anyone have the part number for the cable that goes from the mulf2 or combox in the trunk to the BT antenna module that resides under the driver's underdash panel?

you could just buy a generic cable on ebay (1/2m) and sit the antenna in the boot. that's what I did on mine. Still works from 15m

if it had pre wiring wouldn't it have had the loom

Unfortunately, it appears that BMW did (does) not provide single source harnesses for all cars, and instead does custom harnesses. He has found a company that is making him a custom cable with two Fakra connectors. I will post a new thread once he gets this (and solution works) to aid any others that may have the same odd "black sheep" options list.

ptpending, all,

Any idea if a2dp (streaming) can be added to e90 (Jan. 2010) that ALREADY HAS handsfree BT (has mic., etc) from the factory?
I mean the OEM way, I know I can plug-in BT dongle into AUX, but this is not what I'm looking for.
I was trying to research if one of later version of mulf2high (ULF Module) p/n 84109229740 has additional profiles?
Thanks!

if you have post 2008/09 idrive (CIC) you can replace MULF2HIGH with COMBOX and you'll get a2dp streaming
