Should have done this a while ago.

So for the last several months I have been having odd issues with idle and off idle acceleration. It has been to the point to where I was seriously thinking that maybe I had just a lemon or a something was severely wrong. Well over the last few weeks I have changed the brakes, rotors, new tires, and for shits and giggles replaced the vanos solenoids. Well I can say that it now runs and drives better than it has in the some 2 years that I have had it. I have no issues in traffic as I used to; the idle issues have been resolved and even the shaking at startup is gone. So for anyone having similar issues, bite the bullet and just buy some solenoids and try that first.

How many miles you got? I'm not having any issues with mine at just under 110k, but my solenoids have never been cleaned or replaced.

Funny I've been meaning to clean my solenoids as my warm startups and general idle has become rougher. Now I'll make it more of a point to

I've always been tempted to do this.

Interesting and thanks for the info. I'll try a clean and swap first. See if that helps.

I'm having horrible issues with idling to the point that my car will stall if I come to a stop... But for me it seems to be an issue with my Crank Case Ventilation Valve... Maybe today I will pull out my solenoids and give them a good clean, because if that magically fixes my issue it will be much easier than pulling off my valve cover and replacing the CCV valve membrane!

What's the price tag on a new set of Solenoids?

I did this. My vanos were incredible clean when I pulled them. Fwiw, this did not clear up my VERY faint stumble that happens only on the coldest starts when I hurry too quickly into Drive or reverse after starting.

If I let it run for 30 seconds it doesn't happen.

Didn't notice any difference while running.

Not saying it won't help anyone else's issues, but didn't cure my tiny, rather insignificant issue.

Took all of 10 minutes, tho, so worth it.

Cold start (in FL here so cold=80°F) I'll get a LITTLE shaking and stumble. I'll drive off, go thru the parking garage and stop at a stop sign, it'll disappear. Until the next cold start. Spark plugs have like 5k on them btw, have cleaned the vanos solenoids once. If I'm feeling real anal one day I'll give new solenoids a go.

That's probably just cat warmup. It dumps fuel when the car is cold to heat up the cats. Makes it run a little rough.

Exact same issue but I'm thinking it's more normal than anything, in extreme temperatures it's more noticeable (-10/20). After making my first turn down the street, I'm good.
