not around the track. the z28 is a monster. just like how the gt500 would get abused by a gt350 around the track.

That puts the Camaro in REALLY good company. And just over 2 seconds behind the uber-expensive AWD GTR nissan. Hats off to the Bow Tie guys. |

your comparing a 17 model zl1 to a 15-16 model z28. the next 17-18 z28 that someone posted the spy shot of is going to abuse the zl1.

That is a really good driver to be able to post that time with such limited outward visibility. He must have master Jedi skills.

5th Gen Camaro: ZL-1@7:41.27 (580HP/556TQ) - Z/28@7:37.47 (505HP/481TQ)
6th Gen Camaro: ZL-1@7:29.60 (650HP/650TQ) - Z/28@N/A While the 6th Gen chassis is light years ahead of the 5th Gen one, I think the increased HP/TQ numbers have also greatly contributed to the faster Ring lap time of the ZL-1... I believe the rumor is that the Gen 6 Z/28 is to receive the same power plant that was in the Gen 5 Z/28. If that's the case, I don't believe that the Z/28 will improve on it's time as much as the ZL-1 did. I speculate that the Z/28's time will be close to what the ZL-1 put down, albeit with less HP and TQ...and maybe weight. |

Here's the main problem with that statement:
NO one has been able to EVER replicate a lap time that even comes close to what Nissan "claims" the GT-R can do. Case in point: NISMO GT-R, yes the $150K GT-R in the Car and Drive Lightning Lap did a 2:49.4 in 2015. The "antiquated technology" last gen Z/28 did a 2:50.9. Oh, a 2012 GT-R ran a 2:53.2, yup, slower than the Z/28.

The 7:37 time was on a damp/wet track in sections, so not a completely dry track. Experts said it cost them around 10 seconds.

You do realize there is a new Z28 coming out. It will be faster around the Nurburgring, just like the last gen Z28 was faster than the last gen ZL1.

GR-R? Never heard of that but a GT-R, I have. And to think, the ZL1 is way less expensive to own and buy is only 10 seconds behind a GT-R. See the lightning lap results for the 1LE? I'm safe to assume the ZL1 would beat the put a good second on the GT-R on a track like that.
The GT-R had its time to shine and now lower end models are coming in to take that light. |

They went nuts with the Z/28 reducing weight, increasing performance, to even hollowing out the chevy emblem in the grill for airflow. Serious car.
