Is it OK to use regular cleaner wax on wheels?

I know most people use special waxes and sealants that are made just for wheels, but is there something wrong with using a regular cleaner wax to protect/repel brake dust from the factory wheels?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure there is no problem with this. Basically the motto is "If it's safe to use on your paint, it's safe for your wheels". Lots of people do the same exact process on their wheels as they do their paint (wax, etc)

Pretty much, just understand that the wax will more then likely not last too long since it is not made to handle the heat that comes off the brakes. If you are using it to help clean; it should help a bit!

Thank you. That's what I thought, but I had to ask because I will be doing a mini detail job on my 335, and I don't have the special wheel wax/sealant stuff. I just bought a bottle of NXT 2.0 locally and will post some pics later on.

I still have some Meguairs and Mother cleaner wax left over. If I had to choose, should I apply the cleaner wax or the NXT to the wheels?

You should try some Wheel Wax. It is great at repelling break dust and is designed to last long even with the high heat.
