New Member Introduction
Hello everyone,
My name is Evan, I'm a long time lurker that finally made a account. I own a 2011 335d M sport. Black Sapphire Metallic on Chestnut brown interior and CF interior trim. I purchased the car used back in May and have been loving it. However, I have run into some issues. When I purchased the car from the dealer it had been sitting for 9 months. PO traded it in for a newer car because the diesel was having issues. All 6 fuel injectors have been replaced along with a carbon cleaning. While the car was sitting the DEF tank went bad as well while I was test driving it. I didn't want the car at this point because I could forsee the problems it would have in the future with the emissions. Fast track a month after I first test drove the car, my buddy who is a Master Tech at that dealer gave me a call and notified me that they were going to send the car to auction. Long story short I got the car really cheap. But you know what they say, "Nothing more expensive than a cheap BMW" ![]() I've put about 13k miles on the car since I purchased it. During that time it's been great, with one exception. Last week the "No Start 200 miles" warning came on in red. I figured this was the DEF being low since it had been 13k since filled. So I went to the dealer and bought 11 liters of DEF from the dealer (2 large jugs, one small with the adaptor). I filled both resevoirs full and drove the car away. Light still hasn't gone away. When I got home I ran the codes and got a DeNOx efficency low and NOx sensor fault codes and also a DEF low code. Before I bought this car I did loads of research on the issues with the vehicle so I'm not entirely surprised this happened. I live in a no emissions state so I plan on having the emissions coded out of the DDE and running an exhaust from Iaknown. Does anyone have experience with his exhaust? I know he is a well regarded contributor to this forum. Here's a link to his exhaust: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/1919418...&ul_noapp=true I plan on having BPC do a Stage 2+ to my car and purchasing that exhaust kit in the coming weeks. If anyone has exhaust clips or inside/outside the car videos of the tune and subsequent deletes that would be appreciated. I've spent some time on youtube listening to exhausts and watching tuned videos but I haven't come up with a video for BPC (from a private user, not BPC) or Iaknown's exhaust. Any insight is appreciated. Evan |

I would PM the user Iaknown with these questions. I emailed him basically what you asked and he answered nice and quick with a clip of start up with his exhaust. I would HIGHLY recommend it. I loved the sound. Otherwise, I haven't found any videos of revs or pulls. But do PM iaknown and maybe try sending an emial over to BPC as well. They might be able to help.

YYEESS!!! I need to hear this thing in action. Also, did we ever figure out what the weight reduction was between your exhaust and the stock exhaust? It's so hard to wait to get this thing tuned.

I've got the same exhaust with a BPC II+ tune. I'll upload my dyno runs tonight and share them here so you can hear the exhaust. It sounds better in person than in the video at full throttle and "high" RPM from outside the car.

My OEM is still in tact and in storage. I'll take the scale and get the info. To other poster, I would suggest to subtract box weight off that other number. It might not be much but 3 or 4 lbs is worth mention.

You're a great person. I was going to subtract a few pounds for packaging anyways, but I feel like there's going to be a huge difference, even if I rounded Dave's exhaust up to 70lbs.

BPC Stage II+
First run was 313/434 I think. 2nd run was 343 with no torque reading. The operator marked the crankcase to get the RPM and was having difficulty getting the measurement. Also, I don't think it was building full boost. I've got a race pipe I still need to install as well. Regardless, 343 is less than I was looking for but not bad for a mail-in tune. I'll be heading back for a few more runs in an attempt to 350+ |

Considering the horsepower reading went from 313 to 343 (not caught on the video) between the 2 runs, I lend it to operator inexperience with diesels. My car runs great and is very consistent (butt dyno) on the road. This was at a dyno day and it took him a long time to get my car ready for the runs. After the 2nd run, he pulled it off the dyno and went to the next car. I am in the process of getting a refund for my experience because he does not have the right setup to effectively run it again. BPC's tune I have put down 359/559 (not 396) on BPC's dyno. My 2nd run put down 343 with no torque reading but you could extrapolate the results. We're only 16 horsepower different there but I would like to have some more dyno runs to validate. Stock ratings are 265/425 at the crank. Torque is a function of horsepower so the 343 hp run I had should have yielded over 500 ft-lb at the wheels had the crankcase pickup not lost connection with the mark. My car feels like a monster with the exhaust and tune vs stock. I picked up more than 9 ft-lbs with this setup. |

I seemed like it was a little on the smokey side too. I'm still on the original boost hose (81k miles) so it should probably be replaced. Also, the first run was with the fan pointed the wrong direction as it was last setup for a FWD car.
