So what's with these shoes?
This guy's shoes had to be size 12 or 13, or he had a good 3 inches of open space in the toes. His toes couldn't go all the way to the points, so how much space is there past his toes? I don't do pointy-toed shoes, so I'm at a loss.
I saw these same shoes on my return flight. Might have even been the same guy, but I wasn't really paying attention the first time, so I can't be sure. The shoes were definitely the same, though.

Yours don't seem as pointy and long. Plus they don't have those hideous double buckles. But how much space is there in front of your toes? Must be a lot, especially with the shoes in the pic I posted.

The double buckle style is called Monkstrap. They were popular a year or so ago and every shoe store sold them. I'm guessing that style faded quickly cuz I hardly see them in stores anymore.

I've got a pair of cheap brown shoes I got for the office that are like that. They're supposedly 10 1/2, and the width fits me great, but they've got a solid 1.5-2" of extra length in the toes that is too narrow for my foot to actually go into. Kinda makes me feel like I'm wearing clown shoes but whatever.

Look where the shoe creases and you can tell how far his toes go.

So it must take some time to get used to all that extra space. I'd be tripping over everything, but I'm a klutz anyway, even without the extra real estate in my shoes.

Same here, but I see that often enough. Etiquette is a dying trait.

Eh...not really. While I don't wear shoes that are that pointed, most of my dress shoes are somewhat sleek and have some room at the toe. It's not as if that guy has 3" in front of his foot.

And there are about 50 similar pairs on Nordstrom online right now. There's probably 1.5" of empty space in front of the toes.

To be fair though, i havent bought "dress" shoes in a long time. Im a sneaker and workboot/cowboy boot type of guy. Did have an engineer show up on site with some extremely pointed shoes this morning. I really wanted to step on them to see where his toe was. And every now and then ill get one of my day laborers showing up with these. |

I don't wear dress shoes myself. I don't even own a suit. I wear mostly polos and khakis. If I need to dress up I throw on a sportcoat. Life is easier that way.
I have a nice collection of ties that I look at every now and then. |
