Unhappy e90 320D central locking system issues.

Hello,

All of a sudden the remote locks on my BMW e90 320D do not work. The doors will not unlock using the remote button on the key. Does any of you have any idea what may be wrong? They open close fine with the key though....Please help.

Could be various issues, battery in fob, fuses.

I know the diversity units can fail too

On my e91 it was a break in the wire accessed by cutting the plastic tube, caused by opening and closing boot lid over time

check fuse 56/57 for early models and 72/73 from about 2007. If it's the fuse it's likely to be a door lock actuator.

If the fuse keeps blowing the advice from BMW was to fit a slightly higher rated fuse - a 20 amp fuse in place of the 15 amp. If the fuse keeps blowing then check the door actuators . If I remember correctly, you cycle the door locks and check for abnormal operation in an individual lock - slowness, noise. Replace the offending actuator.

Thanks a lot for the tips, I will check the fuse 56/57 and also the actuator.

Maybank garage in Reading checked and confirmed it is the actuator front passnger side thats the problem. quoted 58 for part plus 100 labour, altogether close to 170 pounds for replacing. To me it looks a lot, please confirm?

The part price seems ok and would probably take a couple of hours. I imagine BMW would quote an hour and still charge the same.
