Angry Exposed Headlight Wiring, should I be worried?

So I had an issue with one of my halos going out (prematurely) and before I put in a replacement I want to know if this could possibly have caused it?

I know the headlight area can get fairly hot but I find it a bit ridiculous that BMW didn't consider a little extra protection on these wires, it is happening on both sides.

wtf

well the brown is a ground. But yes you should protect all of those wires.

Almost looks like someone did it on purpose except for all the cracks...

When I handle the wires the protective layer just cracks and falls apart. It looks as if they have been subjected to way more heat than expected.

I'm curious if anyone else is seeing similar degradation of their wires.

Yep. Seeing this in my xenons. The black and yellow power wires are flaking bad.

Just blew my second ballast. I'm guessing this is the culprit. Going to try some liquid stuff to re-insulate the wires.

'06 330i. (Edited to add model)

Unfortunately this is a common issue. Liquid tape could help but it'll be messy. Curious to know more about the guys VinceCarbone recommended.

This is commonly seen in hot/dry climates. It would cause things to ground out, I'd repair ASAP.
