335D - Looking to Buy

Getting interested in a 2011 335d M Sport with 69K........I'm new to diesel, but very familiar with BMW's (E36, E46M3, E90 335xi).

This car looks in good condition with 2 owners. Current owner bought 2 years ago and put about 35-40K on the car, mainly highway.

The last owner didn't put any tune on the car and had it serviced under warranty up to 50K and hasn't had any issues with the car. Owner seems very honest and not giving the car away.

The only MOD the prior owner did was install a Quaife LSD for about $4K (has all paperwork), no clunking when putting in gear.

1. Looking for any input on what are the major issues to watch out for.

2. Any suggestions on how to drive it to see if I can duplicate issues common with this car. Most concern is the emission crap and auto transmission...not a fan of auto's, but i guess this will be something new to me.

3. Any input on tuning this car is appreciated. I'm hoping to stick with JB as I had a lot of success with my prior N54, meth, E85, etc. Probably start out with tune and add on from there.

The auto tranny doesn't seem to be a problem.

Longer term, the SCR/DEF system and NOx sensors seem to be a problem after 100K or so, some earlier.

Was previous owner on these forums? That would be a great way to know details of all car has been through. Please ask who did the Quaife so you know where your warranty is good at.

Quaiffe was from Diffsonline and installed at a regional lace called 3D Auto Works in Hudson, NH
