Good All-Season tires?
Hi everyone, hope you guys/gals had a wonderful thanksgiving.
I ordered a new set of wheels and I need a nice set of tires to wrap them in. I currently have Extreme Contact Continential DWS06 which I love, but I don't want to buy another set because its outside my budget range. I need suggestions and recommendations for all season tires that are slightly more affordable. The tires I'm going to run are 235/35/19 front 265/30/19 rear I saw General G-MAX AS-03 that is about $550 for a set. Anyone have any thoughts about these? |

I had Goodyear Eagle Sports on my E46 and liked them. Only had them for eighteen months before selling the car but they handled well and very little road noice.

What I do is go to TireRack.com, put your vehicle in, and shop for tires. They have their own reviews as well as reviews by users, which can be filtered by BMW. Plus, they have the specs of the tires and rankings by the reviews.
I use summer tires and winter tires. I don't shop for all seasons because I have RWD.

My cousin is a store manager at Discount Tire. He highly recommended the Continental Control Contact Sport AS ultra-high performance all-season tire even more than the Michelin Pilot A/S3. I have a few hundred miles on them so far and I love them. They handle well (tested in dry, wet, warm & cold), are quiet and the ride is much smoother than the runflats.

I also tried the Eagle Sports. They too are nice. Excellent in the dry, smooth quiet ride, grippy, responsive, and nimble. Additelse.lly, they made my 330i very surefooted in snow/slush/ice. My only complaint is that wet cornering grip was a bit lacking in comparison to the tires stellar performance everywhere else. Stay away from DWS/DWS06 (if you are an enthusiast), as they throw a sizeable amount of the cars nimbleness and sharpness right out the window. Dws are smooth and quiet, but are also (relatively) mushy, unresponsive, floaty, and disconnected. |

A/S3 worn out like a summer set for me as well.
It performs well but wears accordingly. |

Dont know about Gmax, but do NOT buy Goodyear AS. I have them for my winter now. A complete and utter piece of crap. TireRack dont even carry it anymore, although they are available at other vendors. TireRack changed out the whole set twice for me, because they would not balance. My current set still vibrates a little. Props to TireRack, but these are absolutely horrible.
You could try 970s, Bridgestone. Pretty good. Had 960 on my RX8, but cant handle over 2 inch of snow. I'd look in ebay for slightly used DWS though. DWS are very, very good AS, think of them as the PSS of AS tires. Others dont come close to what they offer.
