N54 JB4 install issues PLEASE HELP

Hey Guys! So this will be my first post. Just installed my used JB4 that I purchased on eBay today. Car started right up, but SES stayed illuminated after multiple start ups. I noticed during installation that there was an "extra" red wire that had electrical tape on it. (Not the main power wire) ran the car for about 12 miles on Map 5, SES is still on and car seems to have serious lag when I try to step on it. The power doesn't kick in until WOT. Can anyone direct me as to what this "extra wire" may be? I'm nervous this may be the cause of my SES light and rough performance. Only mods are Injen DCI, charge pipe & BOV. PLEASE HELP!!
