That's what you get when you gamble on some of these brands. While Vizio has had some decent reviews and they do have a following, pray you don't have to get that thing repaired. Because the last I researched this topic, you're out of luck if you want to repair your Vizio outside of the warranty period.

I'd add f&ck Samsung too. I have a Samsung plasma tv that is less than 5 years old and it just repeatedly powers on and off. Luckily after a lot of online research, I was able to find out that the main circuit board went bad and was able to get it repaired.

My last Panasonic tv was over 30 years old, eff Samsung and their cheap ass electronics, they deserve all the shit they're getting now.

Simplicity is the name of the game for me when it comes to electronics. Visited some family's house this week and their Smart TV + surround sound + cable setup takes 4 damn remotes to operate. Screw that!

Sony is best. You pay more, but there's a reason for it. Check dedicated video review sites and you'll see why Sony is better than Samsung and others.

My two Vizio TVs have been fine, but I hear you. I have a Samsung Tab 3 8" tablet that was working fine until the battery powered all the way down. Now it won't charge. Googling the problem points to a known problem with Samsung tablets not being recoverable if the battery goes to zero. Between that and the exploding phones, I'll never touch a Samsung product again.

Point is if the manufacturer provides no way of repairing the thing out of warranty, do you really think they'll put in quality parts in it?

When Pioneer was in the market, they were the best which has been backed up by numerous reviews along with some very respected individuals on the AV forums such as D-Nice (Dewayne). I had my 141FD ISF calibrated by D-Nice and haven't had even the slightest itch to consider anything currently on the market.

It's all luck of the draw in the end. My 10 yr old Panasonic plasma takes abuse in the kids playroom and have a Samsung LED smart tv that gets the most use in the family room and is 2 yrs old and so far so good. I got it for free using CC points at Best Buy and bought the extended warranty Costco. I use a Harmony remote that is programmed to control everything.

FWIW you should stick the circuit board in the oven. My 60" LG plasma started having issues where it wouldn't turn on and I read to take the main board out and put it in the oven for something like 10 mins at 180 degrees? Can't remember exactly. I thought it was the dumbest shit I'd ever read but many people said it worked so I thought why the hell not. Put the board back in and haven't had an issue since.
