JB4 lean autoswitch from Map 5 to Map 4
Hey guys,
Little background on me and my car... I'm new to the BMW world and have always wanted to own an N54 so I bought a 2010 335xi with 50K miles on it a few months ago. When I bought it, the car was running Cobb AP V3 (Stage 2+FMIC Race map), 3" VRSF CL DP, 3.5" VRSF CL catback, AFE DCI, and VRSF 7" FMIC. WIth this setup, the car pulled real hard. Since buying the car, I decided to switch from the Cobb to the JB4. I also recently bought a cable for MHD in case I want to use their backend flashes. In addition to removing the Cobb, I also removed the VRSF catback exhaust and replaced it with the stock catback (still running VRSF DP). I also installed a Cobb chargepipe. The current mods are JB4 (map 5), VRSF DP (stock catback), Cobb chargepipe, AFE DCI, and VRSF 7" FMIC. I only had the JB4 installed running Map 5 for a little while and it seemed to run fine and I didn't have any issues but it didn't seem to be nearly as fast as before (obviously went back to the stock catback so it's tough to judge here, just seems so but the car is also much quieter which is totally different). Anyway, one of the main reasons I switched to the JB4 in addition to all of the in-dash features, is the ability to run an E85 mix on Map 5. So I recently sourced E85. I'm only just getting through my first tank of mix which was 3-gallons of E85 and the rest 93, but I keep getting automatically kicked from Map 5 to Map 4. I don't feel like I should be having any issues with only 3-gallons and my supporting mods. So I found a little time today to get some logs done. Unfortunately, I only had a chance to get two logs done. In both of those logs though, which were 3rd gear pulls, the Map 4 auto-switch was caught... I saw the blinkers flash twice and I was in Map 4. All that being said, I'm still fairly new to this stuff so I'm trying to learn. I understand, in this case, this is the JB4 protecting my engine from running too lean but I don't know what to look for in the logs yet. Can you guys take a look at the logs for me?
