German Headlight Wars - Intensify

Benz has some fancy new headlights and now the headlight angst is going to reach epic proportions

Quote:
Stuttgart.

For the Mercedes developers the future of car light lies in dazzle-free main beam in HD quality. The revolutionary headlamp technology shines with maximum performance and facilitates communication and pioneering driver assistance.

The new HD headlamp generation from Mercedes-Benz features chips that work with over one million micromirrors, i.e. more than two million in total per vehicle. The intelligent control logic required for the dynamic light functions was developed by Mercedes-Benz itself. Algorithms receive detailed information about the surroundings from the vehicle sensors, and from it calculate in real time the brightness value for each one of over two million pixels.

This dynamism and precision gives this intelligent system well-nigh countless possibilities to provide ideal, high-resolution light distribution which suits the surrounding conditions perfectly. "The decisive factor is not the technology in the headlamp but the digital intelligence behind it", stresses Gunter Fischer, Head of Exterior Body Development and Vehicle Operating Systems at Daimler AG.

The innovation was developed by Mercedes-Benz in collaboration with two partner companies and it is a good example of the intern cooperation between the Daimler research and the passenger car development on the road to start of production.

Watch out for pedestrian dragging Christmas tree in the middle of the road warning; or painted arrow that is 10m long. Finally my safety complaints have been listened to, thank you MB!

These are cool but I would still prefer BMW Laser Lights although it can be used in high beams only

I don't think this is going to be approved any time soon. Mercedes essentially creates it's own pavement markings or signs there they are not approved by the DOT. For example placing illuminated STOP sign at the intersection might be confusing for vehicle traveling opposite directions which don't have the STOP sign and don't need to stop, similarly creating a crosswalk for pedestrians might encourage crossing at undesired or unsafe locations. There are way too many legal issues with this system.

Fantastic, then we can get it coded to display helpful advice (see below) for the drivers around us (and also a image of male genitalia to let driver in front of us know how we view their driving skills):

Will they be coming out with one that reminds the driver to eat or drink up some water or take a dump?

All I took from that is that driving is going to get super annoying soon with all the unnecessary bullshit projected onto the road..

It's bad enough with the super bright "Glare-lights" that are being pushed out by every manufacturer in the past few years.
