Injector Gasket Rings
After having a couple injectors replaced....Im still having injector codes...so Im going to swap them around and see if the codes follow the injectors... Im trying to get supplies together for this job and it looks like they want you to get 6 orings and 6 gasket rings... Im not concerned about the Orings, cuz they are rubber and easily replaced...
These gasket rings however are a different story, they look to be made of brass and are HIGH priced.... OEM price is 14 dollars each...and Im looking at needing 8 of them...(because Im assuming they crush and shouldnt be used again....so 4 for the swap of 2 injectors...and maybe 4 more to swap back) Seems that they are limited to our injectors alone... BMW with the club discount is selling them for under 5 each... ECS sellls them for 70 bucks for a pack of 10... Has anyone seen these any cheaper? OR, do you have any specific knowledge of these things that you can share? Thanks Omaha! |

Now...who has done injector replacement? Are these crush washer types? Gotta replace every time you tighten them down or not? |

I attempted to order from that one site and the online shipping came to like $30, when I called they said that was not right and would get back to me.
Today I called my supply house (national auto parts) and my guy found them for $1.35 each (my cost) and the rubber o ring was like $2.35 each. They will be in my hands tomorrow. |

When I took my 4 in for testing at the diesel shop, they put 4 new ones on for me as well and charged me a pittance....so these can be got outside of BMWs unreal pricing. I know where I will be going for them in the future...that diesel shop..... FYI they are decently generic...so just get the sizing right and you are good. Ill update this thread with what was actually on my bill when I get home. |

UPDATE
Just thought I would post an update on this...
After pulling and testing 4 injectors....1 had a cracked plastic head and had fuel INSIDE the electronics head....so...that got replaced. The other 3 tested fine, however 2 of the crush washers were not crushed. When replaced and torqued so the washer crushed...I have no codes. Car is running strong and clean...couldnt be happier. So it appears that the dodge sprinter rings worked just fine......Id say this is a part that definitely doesnt need to be BMW specific. |
