Thumbs up Your New NETFLIX Obsession: OA (Dec 2016)

So I was reading about this original series on Netflix yesterday and it sounds very interesting! The trailer is somewhat dramatic but critics are saying it is intense and engaging. They have certainly been on a roll lately. Including a new Movie produced by Netflix I watched last night that was very entertaining: Spectral

Quote:
Here’s a concept: A medical mystery of a girl is seen hooked up to wires in a secretive research facility that appears to conduct high-tech mind-based experiments. The scene is contrasted by images of her running through woods and bleeding from the nose.

The character in question is Prairie Johnson in Netflix’s upcoming series “The OA” ― but she’s giving us serious Eleven from “Stranger Things” vibes. (Minus the whole ‘80s thing.) Netflix announced by surprise on Monday that all eight episodes of the drama series are set for release this Friday!

Sweet, sounds like a decent show. I'll have to check it out along with Spectral.

the girl in this, Brit Marling, she starred and wrote two other movies that are my all time favorites (she wrote OA too). she's incredible and if you think this series looks good, you will LOVE her other movies. one is called "Another Earth" and the other is "The Sound Of My Voice". they will seriously blow you away.

It really is slow. Kept waiting for something to happen but it kinda didn't.

Watch the first two episodes and second half of the last - you've seen the whole story.

^^^ lmao....I just might do that on recommendation.

I've watched the first two...it take a LONG time for the story to develop. It seems as though they're trying really hard to give depth, and draw out the mystery. Maybe they're avoiding this being a thriller? Becoming a drama?

I'm interested to see what happens next, but if the pacing doesn't get better I might drop out.

I enjoyed the overall story, just was a bit slow for me without a real payoff. Plus some of the FX are laughably bad. But it was worth the watch, I've run out of series' to binge.

Says a lot about the series though. There are other options out there...

I binge watched this over the holidays with my wife...great series, lots of unanswered questions though. Not thrilled with the ending, seemed like it wasn't that well thought out.

Interesting in a good or bad way? I watched the trailer last night and it seemed off or not very telling to me.

It had potential with nice actors. But the storyline fell flat...

Can NOT wait for STRANGER THINGS Chapter 2!!!

It was slow. I kept waiting for something to happen and it never really did. As someone else mentioned you only need to watch the first few episodes and the last episode. I thought the concept/idea of the show was pretty intriguing.

I thought it was great until the last episode. Then it kind of threw up on itself.
