Christmas day I still have to live through, but all cooking and the eve hassle is done. Santa came, went, kids sang to him and my dogs didn't eat him.

Tomorrow we shall feast on leftovers and since everyone keeps saying merry Christmas, I really wanted to be to first one to say merry after Christmas time!

This thread needs lightening up, so ill add some great Christmas music to finish this off. It's like jingle bells, a classic.

I'm glad it all worked out! I just saw a movie with my brother and now have to keep my word to my daughter since she made the Dean's list this semester: I promised her that I would let her drive the i8.

She's a good kid and a great driver since The Stig taught her.

So let me ask you: How much alcohol did it take to survive? I need this info as I am about to embark on the same journey! Help an ///M driver out!!!

Oh god, you're so lucky. Last year at this day I took my kids to a spin and taught them how to drive more in Peter. This year I got the santa saying I'm a bad mom if I don't buy a car soon (our santa was my former neighbor, a dad of a family friend who is a cop who busted me for mild speeding and donuts two weeks before moving to the states).

I remembered today, that I had bought zero presents, but since I didn't do my usual 20 courses dinner (11 was enough) I got it sorted. So what if I was low on ideas? In December it is common in finland to get swimming goggles and the things you put in your feet. The high demand for those items at this time got them for me for 80% off too, so clearly I was on the mark!

They got skees, sledges, snowboards, ringing lessons and 27% of a horse. So many toys and books such as "Hitler's years". My dog never left the santas lap.

As for alcohol, I got none. Then. Now I'm working through a few nice presents!



How are you dealing with this all?

No kids. Lotsa cats. They preclude Christmas decorations, so aside from one or two changes, the house looks as it always does. Wifey and I don't exchange gifts and we have no family in the area, so it's pretty much just a quiet day off with nowhere to go. Every once in a blue moon we travel, but we're always sorry for it later. Best just to stay home. We are having a nice dinner, so that's something.

I seriously hate all holidays. Quiet family time is cool, adding four million tiny bits that hurts when you step on them is not.

I had the grandparent trained when we lived here the last time, but this year they went nuts. Nuts.

I took a few traditional dishes I made to my great aunt only to realize she was allergic to all of the ingredients and that her spouse had died a few months prior, and there is no way to escape the crying festival at c.. Especially since nobody had told me about it. Like... Any ideas how to go from this opening line: "merry c, I made the usual favorites of your husband and yours for you since im back!" And then get told the old man died, and you're still holding the fucking trays?

All in all, I did not do so well.

Yeah, my family sure brings an extra flavor to Christmas. It's a horror show in a normal day, but since there are zero members i talk to without a a court order (well, almost), it's really so much more relaxing!

To you too, I spent the evening reading a nice book about Hitler so I could make sure I can answer all the questions that will come when our mildly curious kid reads it. I'm only mildly worried that instead of the snowboard which nobody bothered to unwrap, that book was the present that was fought over.
