Another BMS Filter Review! UPDATED WITH SSTT

Hey guys,

Just wanted to share my .02 on the BMS Filter product and install. First of all, thank you Terry for coming out with a quality product that doesn't burn a hole in your wallet Even when the product was on backorder, I received my package in less than a week.

The install of the BMS Filter took about 30 minutes. I haven't worked under the engine bay of the 335i before (except for the installation of my SSTT), so next time around I would expect it to take half the time. The only few tricky parts to the install were figuring out how to remove the harness from the side of the airbox (pull each unit UP hard, don't pull outwards), loosening the clamp screw that is located behind the airbox (I believe it was a 6 or 7mm head), and then making sure the filter sat flush in the engine bay. However, none of these steps were difficult at all, and just like any other product, your learning curve shortens after you install it once. Piece of cake!

Performance wise I can definitely feel the increase in power up top. Even down low my car broke loose a little more wildly than usual. My butt dyno tells me it's about a 10-12rwhp gain, obviously with most of that feeling past 4k rpm. From my perspective it seems like the RPM's actually rev up a tad faster than stock.

The sound is great as everyone else has explained. Even when the windows are rolled up you can hear the diverter valves recirculate the air. It really does sound mildly like a BOV, even at stock boost.

IMO, this product is the best bang for the buck out there. Easy install, great sound, moderate gains and good customer service. Can't wait to install my new SSTT next week

I'll be posting dynos and videos within the next week or so.

SSTT UPDATE ON PAGE 2!

Just installed. Agree with review completely. Took about 20 minutes for install. My car is stock right now but I should be getting and installing my Active Processor in the next couple of days so when I get that in I will post a more in depth review and post some vid's. Anyone who is on the fence about this mod............ORDER IT!!!!

Wow, it seems like Terry is selling quite a few of these.

I hope that he comes out with some type of airbox for his intake because I love the sound of it.

I agree. Honestly, though, it's not a huge deal at this point. I don't mind taking the filter out every couple thousand miles to clean it. I'm more concerned about a heat issue in the summer, but I guarantee Terry's on top of it

Terry just installed mine last night!!!! (Along with a JBX upgrade)....and I would write a review, but I am not calm enough to do so yet!!

It's sensational!! The sound when you back of the throttle is addictive. And, people, especially enthusiasts, will KNOW there is something special happening underneath the hood. That, and the fact that you just de-atomized and reappeared five cars ahead...

...see, I am not well enough to write a sane review...

will admit that that thing got hot as hell under the hood yesterday. . . . in 87 degree socal weather and after an hour of hard driving. My temps hit 260 after that type of driving, I have no oil cooler either (though this has nothing to do with an intake)

Yeah. That's bound to happen. We'll all be keeping an eye out for it. Honestly, I'm not too worried about a heat soak issue. I ran a polished short ram with no shield on my 2JZ and was completely fine.

Definitely! The point of this intake it that you are taking away the restriction of the stock airbox.
