Night of the White Gloves at the BMW Museum...
The BMW Museum puts on an event called: "Night of the White Gloves at the BMW Museum". This is a special evening where the public are allowed to "touch" the rare classic cars on display at the BMW Museum. I have been wanting to go to this event for a long time... but Life seems to always get in the way. This year the good people at BMW Classic invited me, and I just could not say no. I am glad I attended! Everyone gets a pair of white gloves before entering the museum. You can touch the cars and look under the hood and inside the cars. Normally the cars are all locked up - but not so on this special night. BMW also hired a jazz music band and had models walking thru out the museum. There was extra museum staff on hand to help answer questions and open up the cars. It was really cool to be able to touch and feel the classic lines of the cars that were on display at the museum. I had never seen this many people at the Welt/Museum before. The Welt's parking garage was full as was street parking. I decided to try to use the park-haus across the street from the Pizza Hut, but that too was full. Then I tried Olympia Park, park-haus but that was also full. WTH. I then ended up parking about 1/2 mile away... because there was literally no parking spots available ANY where! But then again... that's a good sign you are at a "special" event. It was worth the "parking" effort. The BMW Museum has been holding this "White Glove" event since 2012(I believe). The museum opened late in the evening at 8pm and the event ran until midnight. I was really surprised on how many people came out on this cold evening to look at BMW's. Even inside the BMW Welt there were a ton of people - normally empty at night. One thing is for sure... the people of Munich(and from around the world visiting) Love BMW's. I also want to thank the good folks at BMW CLassic for inviting me to this event. The first bunch of photos are from BMW AG. My photos are posted in the second post of this thread. Enjoy, Dackel BMW AG fotos...

And here are my own photos from the evening...
Schatzkammer = Treasure Chamber A lot of people miss visiting this room. Its kind of hidden in "plain sight", in the side of the room where the BMW design clay model is located. I know I had visited the museum a few times before "discovering" this room downstairs. Its the only way into the Schatzkammer. ...its kind of like the narrow hall(way) of BMW engines - located upstairs from the room where the BMW bike "hangs" via scales to visually show you how balanced BMW bikes are. I think these small "Easter Eggs" displays are cool of BMW to have featured in their museum.

Beautiful pictures... but surprised at the lack of usual Bimmerpost decorum??
The obvious question would be... could you touch the models too?? LOL! Great event! I love Munich! A buddy of mine designed for BMW and lived in Schwabing a few years ago.

The Night of the White Gloves is always held in late November at the BMW Museum - and is open to the public. You can watch the BMW Museum's FB page for future events/details. Dackel

Call me a curmudgeon... but having been to this museum... (twice actually) I can't really say that I would want to attend on white glove night..
first off... I don't really have a great hankering to TOUCH everything I see.. Secondly.. it's VERY crowded. third.. I can see flat chested super models by watching the Victoria Secret Fashion Show. Finally.. I also presume you can't touch the super models so...... the museum is definitely cool and worth visiting.. Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 12-28-2016 at 08:36 PM.. |

One thing I wish that the BMW Museum would do... is have a special evening event where they would start up all the rare cars they have for the public. Much like what the Porsche Museum does... PS: Did you see how may souls were inside the P-Museum in the ^^above video..

That was awesome !
Thanks for sharing, you forget how many iconic cars and bikes BMW has. Can't wait to go to Germany one day and visit the Welt and Museum myself. Thinking Euro Delivery for next Bimmer
