Which program?

Hi guys as i am new with BMW's i would like to know if there is any program like the VagCom i used to use to my old car.

I want to be able to read and reset fault codes and even maybe code something.

I have read about INPA that comes with a cable also (clone) but the user interface seems a little bit "simple" compared to vagcom.

Any thoughts and suggestions are more than welcome!

There are several options depending on how much control you want vs ease of use.

1. Carly Mobile App + Bluetooth / wifi OBD2 adapter (their own).

It's good. Diagnostics and coding supported. So easy a baby could use it.

2. Rheingold ISTA/D - ISTA/P

ISTA/D BMW dealer level diagnostics. ISTA/P for programming and coding.

ISTA/D is very good. ISTA/P is a typical dealer type software. It's limited to what dealers need. You'll need a good quality K+DCAN cable or BMW ICOM A2 (+B for MOST programming).

3. BMW Standard Tools - INPA, TOOL32, WINKFP, NCSEXPERT.

This is what you describe as 'simple' it's not the case. It's a seriously advanced piece of software, just doesn't have a pretty GUI.

Factory Level tools for diagnostics, programming and coding. You can pretty much do anything with these setup correctly and combined they are faaaaaaaar better and more powerful than anything you can buy.

Negative is that you have to understand what you are doing with them otherwise you'll brick your car. A few days of reading the forums and you should pick it up though.

4. I'll throw this in as a medium between 2 and 3. DR Gini.

It's a home made app by someone on another forum. It's basically BMW Standard Tools but in a nice GUI. Works with K+DCAN or ICOM. Worth a look.

Thank you for the response.

So from what i can understand the one that you would suggest to me is the INPA which i can find in ebay or amazon.

Is there any version of it i should get? And is this program easy to install or it requires a lot of steps in order to be successful?

If you can provide a link of it so i can check i will appreciate it too

Thanks for your time

The cable which people have least problem with is a K+DCAN USB cable from www.onestopelectronics.com

Alternatively buy a decent ICOM clone from eBay.

------

Do not pay for any software. Everything is here preinstalled in a VM:
