Happy new year! Looking back at 2016 through the eyes of BIMMERPOST
BIMMERPOST NEWS Happy new year! Looking back at 2016 through the eyes of BIMMERPOST Ok so 2016 will go down as one crazy ride of a year, mostly due to the politics. But lets take a break from all that and look at what 2016 was like for us BMW fans. Here were the top 10 threads/events in 2016! #1 - 2/3 series & X1 headlights score marginal in IIHS safety test, and BMWUSA's response While it might seem unlikely at first glance, this was unquestionably the most looked at topic on BIMMERPOST in 2016. Take home point, driving safety still reigns supreme to alot of us in BMW land. Combine that with talk of headlights/LED/Xenon and you have a winner This topic had more views then the #2 and #3 threads, combined! #2 - LIFTED! Delivery Stop on Certain BMW M2, M3, M4, 5 and 6 Series For Rear Differential After seeing this past years winner, it should come as no surprise to see another safety/QC issue take the #2 spot. Although in this case it probably has alot to do with people not being able to get their cars on delivery day! #3 - Next generation BMW M5 (F90) prototype first sighting We are a hopeful and forward looking bunch aren't we? 2016 proved no different then years past. With early looks and ideas of what a next generation ///M car, in this case the next M5 would be like rounding out the top 3. #4 - BMW Group U.S. Reports October 2016 Sales A monthly sales report taking a spot in the top 10, especially the #4 spot. I don't think we've ever seen that before. But it happened and went viral. #5 - Official BMW M3 and M4 Competition Package Details Finally some car talk! The new M3/M4 competition pack is the clear winner when it comes to product popularity in the world of BMW enthusiasts for 2016. The official detail and photos release broke the internet for us here at bimmerpost, with over 1000 replies to the official release. #6 - Competition Package Reviews With a package as popular as the competition package, of course #5 is followed shortly after with the first reviews of the M3/M4 Competition package. Over 31 pages of discussion ! #7 - BMW iNext to Serve as Brand Flagship in 2021 Ok so I mentioned early we are a forward looking bunch. I lied, we are a REALLY forward looking bunch. The concept of iNext and everything that comes with it got it over 270,000 eyeballs on the topic to clinch the #7 spot. #8 - BMW will cut no-cost maintenance program to 3yr/36k for MY2017, and exclude items Sliding into the #8 spot, based on the sheer volume of chatter (~30 pages!). BMW plans to cut coverage of brakes, wipers and belts in their no-cost maintance program, and the reaction was immense #9 - 2016 M4 ZCP vs. 2015 M4 non-ZCP (from a guy who's owned both) With only a 5 post difference, we had to highlight this incredible review by @CaryTheLabelGuy which prompted some really great debate #10 - Official Release: BMW 5-Series Sedan As you would imagine the release of a new BMW 5 series (and all the videos, photos and info you can throw a log at) was kind of a big deal. Honorable Mention - BMW M2 CS Will Feature S55 Engine With 400 HP This really needs a place on this list because its the thread of this list that has been gaining alot of steam. While still a rumor, the idea of this car has sparked something in the enthusiast core. The thread is only 1 month old on bimmerpost, but just barely missed the top 10 of 2016. This is a car that will be likely be explosive if it becomes a reality in 2017. |

@TheAxiom getting banned was bigger than any of these stories in 2016.
