So over the snow storm last week my RWD E90 took a nice little love tap with a curb on the right rear wheel. The wheel and tire are fine which surprises me but my local indy says I need a few parts. He is waiting on part estimates from BMW but it is taking forever with the holidays and new year. I've decided to buy the parts on my own and bring them to him to install.

2010 BMW 328i ZSP
VIN: WBAPH7G54ANL85775

2 RR Trailing Arms
1 RR Lower Control Arm
1 RR Wheel Spindle

Since he did not give me part #s, my question is is the "wheel spindle" the same thing as the "wheel carrier?" Also, if someone knows anyone parting out a car or wants to help find these parts and #s I'd appreciate it greatly. THANK YOU

It should take your local dealer 1-2 days to get the parts. If it's longer than that and the parts are in the US, try another dealer.

Yes, wheel spindle is the wheel carrier. Have a good look at the hub as well if you are replacing the wheel carrier. Upper link and guide rod may want to inspected again if you hit hard enough to damage the lower control arm.

I would go up there and see if you can have them point out to you what parts are bad, because sometimes some people call these type of parts by different names, esp. BMW catalog usually has wierd names sometimes. For example, there is only one trailing arm on each side, why do they need two? Maybe it's the 'guide rods'?

I would also guess the wheel carrier is what they are calling the spindle, but it's probably expensive, so I would make sure. If you replace the wheel carrier, you'll need a new wheel bearing also, unless you can get a used one with the hub still installed.

It might be worth checking around for used parts (check Ebay and if the place you have the car at works on European cars a lot, they probably have some sources), but if you need fast, it is probably best to go to a dealer.

Whenever I am looking for parts I use this website:

http://car-part.com/

Its like a search engine for salvage yards. It searches every junkyard in the country for the parts you are looking for and lists them from nearest to furthest. I have literally bought hundreds of parts in this way and have never had a complaint. Saves you a bunch of money in the process as well

If you're replacing a suspension bushing or ball joint component, buy new. There is no point is paying for labor to install a used components with unknown wear. You'll be at it again sooner rather than later and pay again for the labor.

There are many aftermarket equivalents (for the most part) that are just as good as OEM.
