I got one too, don't forget I think you have to upload the jamming software onto it via serial because I think it comes stock with just the parking sensor due to legal issues.
www.laserinterceptorusa.com is the US distributors site. |

np ill probably try to test it out this weekend and give you guys some info on its capabilities. edit: Been trying unsuccessfully to update the firmware on the control unit. Can't find any options for it other than one that says its coming in the future so maybe our units just claim to have the jamming functionality disabled but really work. Post some pictures of the installation. I'm curious to see where the optimal spots are on the E92.

Yeah its illegal to use in california but i just talked to elvis and he says that it should have all of the software on it.
I currently have it installed on my e90. The jammers are located on both sides and the laser diode is pointing out of the 4th full slot the outsides of both grills. I have the wires going through the drivers side firewall near the abs system. Tapping into the cigarette lighter power. I have the switch coming out in a temporary mounted spot in the crack under the steering wheel. The box itself is currently chilling on the side of the car near the hood release. The worst parts of the installation are getting the units aligned behind the grill, getting the wires through the firewall(had to cut them and recrimp them after they were through), and tapping into the cigarette power. I might put some pics up later. |

Are they okay behind the grill? I thought they needed a completely unobstructed view in order to work to full potential.

AndrewAz did an install behind the grill I believe so I'm just copying him for now. I dont see a problem with behind the grill as long as the laser receiver and transmitter are given a clear view of the road it should protect you until you are like 30 feet from the gun. edit: I'll probably have to cut the grill or something to make them unobstructed but I'm also going for a stealth look. Currently I have them mounted so that they are pretty invisible unless you bend over and look for them. edit2: If you check out this pic: http://www.usautoparts.net/bmw/pics/...275_grille.jpg then you can see that there is really no place to mount them besides behind the grill or near the foglights. I wish we could mount them vertically in the grill slots. Cutting the grill would look horrible unless you had it blacked out. |

So do you think it's fine, or are you agreeing with me? I agree that cutting the grille wouldn't be the best looking option, although the only other place I see is the lower grille, which I think is a little lower than ideal.
Let us know what you end up doing! |

I'm sort of agreeing with you because after seeing some videos of the LI it appears as if an infrared ray is coming out of the side opposite the lens so it may well be that the lens is the receiver and the other part is the diode. You would have to make both the diode and the receiver open to the road.

You can mount them vertically in the slots in the kidney grill. That is much better for effectiveness than horizontally behind the grill slats.
