E46 M3 and E90 328XI

Hey guys,

I'm new to coding and would like to use software to check/clear codes and service reminders. I'm fairly tech savvy, but don't have direct experience with working with vehicle computers.

I bought this cable on a whim yesterday from Amazon. It had good reviews and was cheap enough, but I'm not sure if it will work for my situation, especially with both an E46 and E90, which I believe may need two different programs or cables? It also seems like the E46 software will need Windows XP. Here's the cable link:

Can anyone point me in the direction to software that I should be using for each or both of them? Any feedback on this cable that's showing up tomorrow would also be appreciated.

That cable should with both cars (but you may have to solder pins 7 and 8 for everything to work with the M3). Both cars can use the same software.

Could you point me to the most updated program to use with this? Windows 7 would be a plus.
