The DVD player does not play anything but the Nav DVD. On models that do have MP3 support, the MP3 CDs are meant to be played in the CD player.
I don't know if your model supports MP3 CDs. Keep the 20 and buy some more CDs. |

Are you trying to play an MP3 CD in the DVD player slot or an MP3 DVD? I recall seeing a thread earlier that you can put an MP3 DVD into the DVD slot and it will work. You just sacrifice the navigation.

The Nav DVD slot is not gonna play a MP3 CD. Your options are MP3 CD in the CD player, or burn MP3s to a DVD and play that in Nav DVD slot.

I don't think just burning mp3's as data on a DVD will work. There is an mp3-dvd option you can use on programs like Nero like the ones in that thread. If you burn them without the mp3-dvd option, you may run into issues such as scrolling to other folders, etc.

yeah im burning them as a data disk. i tried using a regular cdrw and burning folders with music in it onto the disk. the computer reads it fine, but the car doesnt. i also did the same with the dvdrw disk. Im using the Default windows vista burning software. basically u put in a black cd and drag files in it and it burns it on there.

CDRW and DVDRW absolutely do work. Again, try Nero.

dvd+rw works for me for the navigation disc in the dvd slot so we know the drive can read that.
i think the disc format is important as well as the disc type. since most dvd drives can also read cd in the computer world, it's likely that the dvd can read a cd-r or cd-rw but can it interpret the disc/file structure? i think certain programs can burn a dvd formated disc structure onto a CD media. Nero should be able to do it although it's been a while since I used it so I can't give specifics. I think UDF is the disc structure format to try. |

I have burned successfully with either iTunes (PC) or Nero. I use DVD+R and DL DVD+R (8GB+)

Yes, the DVD plays MP3s. FWIW, I use Verbatim DVD+R's, which work fine. 03/07 build, Progman v25
Here's a thread (from 2005) on the subject. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5627 You really don't want too many songs in any one directory, as the Java software can be too slow to index them. |
