Looking at that boring 7-series...it's a really sad time for BMW. The 6-series is the last remaining exciting-looking non-M car in the BMW lineup, but it will probably be replaced soon by a new, boring model.

: I'm not mad at that X2. Looks a lot better than the X4/X6 which I assume it's supposed to take styling cues from.

Never thought I'd see the day where the Lexus LS has a more expressive and interesting design than the 7-series. Both the F01 and G11 have been snooze-fests.

A squatting, shitting mammal looks better than the X4/X6. The X2 actually looks quite good.

Agree, I am trying so hard to like the G11 but it's just not compelling. The LCI E65 is still more interesting to me than the F01 or the G11.

I agree, the LCI E65 was a very memorable design. It had a commanding presence on the road and when you saw one you knew it was a 7-series. It was very masculine.

The 7ers since have just looked like an obese F10 5-series. Sure, the first 3 generations of the 7er looked similar to the 5ers at the time too, but at least they were low slung and sleek looking cars, not chubby-looking boats like the F01 and G11.

I thought the G11 would grow on me in the flesh but it did not. The connected headlights concept does not work on such a big car, and the rear is awful because the tail lights look Japanese. Overall, the styling is not sleek but rather a mish-mash of different styling cues.

X2 looks good, mostly. But please change the lower rear end, exhaust treatment looks horrible.

I am with you on this one.
7 Series does look very boring, nothing special on the exterior really.
I wish it was more aggressive looking it's got a Biturbo V12 engine in it.
Why is it so hard to make it more .. powerful looking ??

x2 looks awesome.
The 7 series rear with the long chrome across the tail lights is ugly AF.

The rear on the 7 is just awful. Compare back to back with the simple elegance of the 6'er vert and I can't help

That new design guy at BMW seems to be sabotaging from the inside out. Jesus, these are some horrible designs. Nasty elongated headlights. Gargantuan grills. Not one line on these new BMWs is harmonic or smooth, there's no flow to the car's body. It's just a bunch of random design elements smashed together.

I agree, it looks youthful and slightly rugged. Unconventional but interesting for sure.

While I still find BMWs to be plenty handsome overall, I agree with your sentiments. The designs aren't as streamlined and sleek as before due to some odd styling elements that were placed for the hell of it. I'm afraid the X7 will look disgusting.

+1

I actually think the X2 looks great. For the type of car it is, it looks very aggressive. Interesting they had it walled-off though. Must mean there is no interior in the concept.

I couldn't agree more. And sitting and driving is so comfortable. It's like wearing a leather shoe from Italy which has already been broken in just for you. The materials are very soft, the seat is like a muffin tin, it holds you in place while still allowing the muffin top to breathe. Everything is right where it should be, where you expect it to be.

It truly is a perfect place to drive from.
